Focke-Wulf Fw 189

The Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu ("Eagle Owl") was a German twin-engine, twin-boom, three-seat tactical reconnaissance and army cooperation aircraft. It first flew in 1938 (Fw 189 V1), entered service in 1940 and was produced until mid-1944, around 830 Fw 189s were produced. This should not be confused with the Heinkel He 219 night fighter also named Uhu.

if mixed battle were more elaborated we could get a whole recon plane line for every nation but now the 189 would be pretty useless

still would love it though

I think it would be good Tier 1 (with MG-17's) and Tier 2 (with MG-81Z) fighter

But this is just my opinion...

Edit: Oops! My bad, turrets were replaced with MG-81Z, still it would be good Tier 1 fighter

+1 for your suggestion for the Uhu, I'd enjoy to see it ingame (My preferred version would be the ground attacker A-4 with twin 20mm cannons. BR would be sound somewhere in between 2 and 3 I think.

Funny enough, the He 219 shares the nickname and would be great to see too:

i like the plane, but it lacks a true purpose in game.

the A-1 is a sitting duck for the most part, and the F-2 could be a semi usable fighter, but you lose the bombing capabilities.

Hopefully recon planes will have their star rising once we get persistent games going on. Maybe even GF evolves in a way where recon gives the team a benefit, or at least allows to call enemies out where others still could see nothing. Something along the lines of this makes me hope that Recon planes will get more action in the future, though Arcade surely won't be their natural habitat.

Would love to see recon aircraft. When GF isn't junk and Naval stuff is out they'll be great.

It would be nice to see this in the game. It has weak amarment and poor defense but if you also add so that it has increased spotting range and it also shows your teammates all the plane that are within your viewdistance. that way it would make up for its armament and serve its role

Yep, just gonna necro this for the purposes of posting lots of nice images of this plane rather than making a new suggestion. It has my full support! :salute:

(There's lots so I'll put them in spoilers)

NOTICE: Historical images contained inside, some with hakenkreuzes, you have been warned ;)

Prototype rear detail, note the gunners' positions

No military markings or installed armament in the dorsal position as far as I can tell, looks like a prototype test flight

In flight, take a look at that really awesome camo!

Rear gunner's position, mount is similar to the He 111s in that it can be rotated to fire in any direction giving a very wide field of fire

Another one, note the whole assembly has been rotated to fire in a different direction

Another interesting variation, the rear mount is in this case covered. Not sure if it's just a removable cover for aircraft on the ground or not

Looks like a lot of gun ports in that nose, could've carried a great armament potentially. Also note the interesting fins on the prop hub

If I've put one in the wrong place or you know about the purpose of the prop hub fins please let me know ;)s

The Fw 189 is a really interesting aircraft to look at and in flight performance, being incredibly maneuverable. I'd really like to see one or two versions in game, perhaps the A-2 and A-4 night fighter

I think the prop fins are generators powered in flight, like on the me-163 komet
