TIGER I AUSF E was confirmed for 1.47. Thank you all for the support!  :salute:

Greetings community and Gaijin.

Since we have in game a lot of different vehicles that have not quite different specifications it would be nice to have this late version of Tiger I ausf E. It was even confirmed before CBT in this tank tree. Recent update 1.43 brought a really nice updated model of the Tiger I so conversion to Ausf E would be really nice, easy and beautiful addition. Suggested BR same as Panther Ausf D 6.0.

What were the main differences between Ausf H1 (that is in the game) and E versions? Many of you may not now and even I might lack some information about that but so far this is quite a lot. So lets revise it!

Update: MG42 could be added to commander.

Tiger I Ausf E

- changed engine to Maybach HL230. providing 700hp at 3 000rpm

- steel roadwheels instead of rubber-rimmed wheels.

- removed smoke candle dischargers

- removed Feifel air cleaner system

- lighter muzzle brake with insert

- instead of two lights only one was used in middle between driver and machine gunner

- added zimmerit

- the front lower glacis used to carry spare tracks and provide additional armor

- new gun mantlet

Redesigned Turret

- turret top armor was increased from 25 to 40mm

- added Turret ring guard (this prevented artilery shells and anti-tank projectiles from jamming the turret)

- loader's hatch is changed to short hinged version

- changed cuppola for cuppola with periscopes and with swivel hatch (Tiger II, Panther style cuppola)

- the exhaust fan moved forward

- anti-aircraft MG added

- no escape hatch at left rear (or is that MP Stopfen correctly called?)

Thank you very much, I hope you will support this and elaborate on more information so it can be added soon!

Major Shaker out!

:salute:

PS: It is not intended to be premium as we will have Tiger I Porsche versions as premium.

Edit:

Changes needed for Ausf E based on current in game model, improvised with Tiger II H

Official response (translated via Google translate)

Later Tiger, version "E" as it is called, may be added in the 1.47 already, but not exactly. Maybe later we will do and the first serial Tiger "eared" as it is called Russian modelers.

Original message

Более поздний тигр, версии  "Е" как его еще называют, будет добавлен возможно в 1.47 уже, но не точно. Возможно позже мы сделаем и самый первый серийный тигр "ушастый" как его еще называют русские моделисты.

Yes, we need more Tigers, but then again I think I might be quoting the crazy mustache man there 0.o

Anyway, yeah, WT is in need of having more models of the Tiger available, if for no other reason then to allow players who WANT to have a full line up of Tigers to do so.... highly impractical in my opinion, but the option should be there.

I would love another tiger 1, could fit nicely in between the auf H and the first tiger 2.

Very well detailed post! +1  :good:

There is one detail though... I'm pretty sure late versions of the Tiger Ausf. E had only 1 gunner sight hole because it was found that it was a weakness in the armor when there were 2.

Thank you very much. That is why I put Wittmann's picture to show 1 gunner sight hole. I hope Gaijin will make it only with one sight.

Not so much that as to that they went to a monocular gunsight vs. the more expensive binocular.  Same thing happened on some of the other Panzers as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

I vote YES... and give it APCR ammo.

The recommended and most usual mix was 50 percent APCBC (Pzgr.39) and 50 percent HE (Sprenggranaten - high explosive shells). A few rounds of the rare (due to the shortage of tungsten carbide) APCR (Pzgr.40) ammunition might be carried for use against the heaviest armored Russian tanks and tank destroyers. The Gr.39 HL (Hohlgranate) based on the hollow charge principle (HEAT), was less accurate and much less destructive than the APCBC rounds, but could be carried in place of the HE rounds and used either to combat armor or as effective high explosive ammunition against soft targets.
