Entwicklung Series

I have searched for a suggestion of these tanks, and I couldn't find anything. These tanks were not officially suggested in the past, so I will suggest them now. The E series of tanks is one of my favorite tanks for the Third Reich, and they are well liked by many other people as well.

The Entwicklung series, more commonly known as the E-series, was a late-World War II attempt by Germany to produce a standardised series of tank designs. There were to be standard designs in six different weight classes, from which several specialised variants were to be developed. This intended to revert the trend of extremely complex tank designs that had resulted in poor production rates and mechanical unreliability.

The E-series designs were simpler, cheaper to produce and more efficient than their predecessors, however their design involved only modest improvements in armour and firepower over the designs they were intended to replace, such as the Jagdpanzer 38(t), Panther G or Tiger II; and would have represented the final standardisation of German armoured vehicle design. Indeed, most of the lighter E-series vehicles were intended to use what were essentially the Tiger II's steel-rimmed road wheels for their suspension, meant to overlap each other (as on the later production Tiger I-E and Panther designs that also used them).

The American M26 Pershing, the British Centurion Mk 3, and the Soviet T-44 tanks would have been the Entwicklung series' E-50 and E-75 contemporaries and likely opponents.

Jagdpanzer E-5 Rutscher

ru5.jpg
An extremely light, fast tank designed to replace the Panzer I as the basis for a number of common hull conversions. As stockpiles of the old Panzer I chassis in storage dwindled, the Heer determined that it would need a new light tracked chassis for utility and scouting work, commissioning the E-5 design to fulfill this role. Although similar in size and function to the Panzer I, the E-5 chassis is in fact a new design rather than a conversion, to take advantages of improvement in mobility and drivetrain technology as well as provide parts commonality with other E-series models.

As a light tank, the basic combat variant is equipped with a 4.2 cm Kwk 42 cannon, a version of the Pak 41 squeeze-bore cannon designed as a light anti-tank gun with greater penetration than the older 3.7 PaK 36. As a result of the squeeze-bore design, the E-5 is capable of hunting lighter-armored medium tanks, but lacks a useful high-explosive shell for anti-infantry work. The tank is quite mobile, with wide tracks and a strong transmission adapted from the E-10 design. Armor is sloped and strong enough to resist small arms fire is useless against even light anti-tank weapons. One of the primary purposes of these combinations is to replace the Sd.Kfz 250 light half-track and Sd.Kfz 221 armored cars for reconnaissance and transportation. The E-5 is also designed to serve as a light tank for use by the Fallschirmjager in glider assaults.

Jagdpanzer E-10
1163_00.jpg

Said to have been designed by the Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz Magirus AG firm in Ulm, the E-10 project was developed as a replacement of the Panzer 38(t) and the designs based on it. The 38(t) chassis was enlarged and redesigned. This new design was to be called PzKpfw 38 (d), d standing for deutsch ("German") as opposed to (t) for tschechisch ("Czech"). The designs based on this new chassis would all be in the 10 to 25 tonnes weight class, and using only four Tiger II-style but larger all-steel road wheels per side in an overlapping layout for its main "slack-track" suspension with no return rollers and a rear drive sprocket.

The intention was to create several new light tank destroyers as a replacement for the Jagdpanzer 38(t), as well as a new family of Waffenträger armed with heavy anti-tank guns.

The E-25 designs, in the 25-50 tonnes weight class, were to be the replacements of all Panzer III and Panzer IV based designs, with Alkett, Argus and Adler, with involvement of the Porsche firm. This family would include medium reconnaissance vehicles, medium Jagdpanzer and heavy Waffenträger, using five Tiger II style road wheels but larger per side in a similar overlapping layout to the lighter E-10 suspension, also with "slack-track" design and a rear drive sprocket.

E-50 Standardpanzer

E50.01.jpg

The E-50 Standardpanzer was intended as a standard medium tank, replacing the Panther and Tiger I and the conversions based on these tanks. The E-50 hull was to be longer than the Panther, in fact it was practically identical to the King Tiger in overall dimensions except for the glacis plate layout. Compared to these earlier designs however, the amount of drilling and machining involved in producing these Standardpanzer was reduced drastically, which would have made them quicker, easier and cheaper to produce, as would the proposed conical spring system, replacing their predecessors' torsion bar system which required a special steel alloy.

Other sources show that a variant of the narrow fronted 'Schmalturm' turret designed for the Panther Ausf. F would have been used, coupled with a variant of the 88 mm L/71 gun.

As indicated by its name, the weight of the E-50 would fall between 50 and 75 tonnes. The engine was an improved Maybach HL234 which had 900 hp. Maximum speed was supposed to be 60 km/h.

E-75 Standardpanzer
xxjBLu0.jpg

The E-75 Standardpanzer was intended to be the standard heavy tank to be used as a replacement of the Tiger II and Jagdtiger. The E-75 would have been built on the same production lines as the E-50 for ease of manufacture, and the two vehicles were to share many components, including the same Maybach HL 234 engine. The E-75 would have had much thicker armour however, and in fact compared to the Tiger II the E-75 had improved hull armour all round. As its name indicates, the resulting vehicle would have weighed in at over 75 tonnes, reducing its speed to around 40 km/h. To offset the increased weight, the bogies were spaced differently from on the E-50, with an extra pair added on each side, giving the E-75 a slightly improved track to ground contact length.

According to some sources, the similarities between the E-50 and the E-75 went further; they were to be equipped with the same turret and 88mm L/71 or L/100 gun, along with an optical rangefinder for increased long range accuracy. German scientists and engineers had successfully designed a Schmalturm, narrow-front turret and infra-red lighting and sights for use on the prototypes of the Panther Ausf. F as the war drew to a close. Other sources however, indicate that the E-75 was to be fitted with the much larger Tiger II turret, which could be adapted to accommodate an even more powerful high velocity 10.5 cm gun.

he original complex suspension by torsion bars was simplified with bogies. The standard Tiger II turret was equipped with 8.8cm KwK 44 L71 gun. The engine was an improved Maybach HL234 which had 900 hp.

Panzerkampfwagen E-100
E100.jpg

The earliest ancestor of the E-100 was the Tiger-Maus. The Tiger-Maus was never built, but it was to use components from the Tiger II and the turret from the Maus. The E-100 was to be a superheavy combat tank designed to be the replacement for the prototype-only, Porsche-designed Maus. Development and building of a prototype E-100 started in 1944 but was largely abandoned after Adolf Hitler ordered an end to the development of the Maus. Only the chassis was finished. It was taken to the United Kingdom for evaluation purposes and eventually scrapped. The E-100's turret would have been that of the Maus II, the proposed upgrade to the Maus. It would have housed 128 mm KwK 44 L/55 (75 rounds). Armor was 240mm-40mm.

It is important to get data correct, so here are sources for fake tanks and information. If some sources have information about these fake tanks, then simply disregard that information about that fake tank.

Here are some 3D renders of the E-100, to get a better idea of how it will look in-game. Note that the model is missing side panels, which the regular E-100 would have.

More sources, and images have been added. Also here is an MG 42 with night vision that would go on the E-100.

There were also tank destroyer variants for all of the E series tanks even an SPAA variant of the E-100 with dual mounted 88's.

The tanks you are speaking of are fakes. Take a look at this link.

I really want these tanks. Not because they are cool, but because the Germans desperately need something that can penetrate the armor of T-54's and IS-4's. Which leads me to this question: are the guns on the E-75 and E-50 adequate for penetrating the hull armor of these tanks? Because as it is the only viable way of killing a T-54 with the Tiger II is by flanking it, which is extremely dangerous considering how slow the tiger is.

As a whole: nope, nope, nope, nope. The entire E-series were, more or less, ideas for possible future experiments, maybe, culminating in an E-100 which was intended to use parts from a Tank that wasn't even out of the trial period, only one turret was even built to begin with. To add these would only open to gates for others to demand the introduction of other such designs which were almost exclusively stuck on a drawing board.

Snip

The E-75 is, for all intents and purposes, an up-armoured Tiger II & the E-50 was an up-armoured Panther, both with the same 8,8cm cannon that is on the current Tiger II / JagdPanther & Ferdinand. So, no, there would not be any additional armour penetrating power.

As an aside, the 8,8cm is more than capable of dealing with both an IS-4M or a T-54, at least the 1951 variant; aim for the hull of a T-54 if you're at close-mid range and you can practically guarantee a fire due to a fuel tank being just a few centimeters behind the front hull (I destroyed 4 T-54 mod. '51s in a single game using my Ferdinand, for example). As for the IS-4M, aim for the front-center hatch(?), you will almost always penetrate and destroy / cripple it beyond repair.

E-75 Standardpanzer

201305250b87ee14d4dc98dba4dc75b9cc9fed03

Quick quip, that is not the E-75, that is the E-100 that you keep posting pictures of, one that also has a made-up turret to make it seem more like a Tiger II/E-75. Also the E-series while easier to balance is not really what War Thunder seems to have initially set out to do, that is have a large repertoire of vehicles that existed that can be used. Admittedly some are pushed a bit statistically and many have various in-accuracies, mostly FM's for planes and the DM state for GF is quite bad right now, but the vast majority of vehicles existed so it does not seem reasonable to suddenly start putting in almost purely paper vehicles (E-100 had a chassis made and waiting for the Maus Turret but it was only the chassis). So no I do not support this.

@teo_storm1 Indeed, that's E-100 artistic impression.

Well, try look for this:
xxjBLu0.jpg
This is actually E-75 design...

About the idea... I still support German tanks for German tree, but I honestly don't know if a bit better Panther / Tiger will do any difference in the game  ;)s About the E-100... Well, thats kinda behemoth. I would rather see E-100 than Maus, but I still think there is a still time for them to be in the game.

The E-100 seems liek the only viable one sicne it was actualy under construction and had a finalised design. The rest were morel ike rough concepts than anything else.

Additionaly the E-50 and E-75 wouldnt realy be m ch more than a slightly faster Panther II and a 105mm armed Tiger 2.

The E-10 and E-25 woudl be redundant since the Jagdpanther already does their job perfectly fine.

The E-100 on the other hand owuld actualy bring something to the table. (Assumign we get the Maus first) It owudl brign the firepower and havily armored turret of the maus on a mor mobile chassis. It would still probably be slow as hell (40kph top speed seems rather....optimistic for something that weighs 140 tons.) But still faster than the Maus.

The main problem with the super heavy tanks is that their speed will cripple them, not their armour. They will end up, like the American T-95 if it gets introduced, to be huge bomber targets reducing their effectiveness to nil once someone spawns in with one. So in reality none of them are actually viable, not to mention they're almost too slow to be useful on the majority of maps, with the caps being so far apart on some and the terrain, also medium tanks like the T-54 would run rings around them. So no, none of the super heavies seem reasonable or viable.

what gun would the E-100 receive since the final version was planned to have a 17.3cm gun but there were also plans for a 12.8cm and a 15cm gun. The 12.8 cm gun was the same one used on the Jagdtiger.

_7179022.jpg

pretty sure the 17.3 cm Kanone 18 was the planned final gun for the E-100

15cm_kanone39.png

Would like to say the 15 cm Kanone 39 was the planned 15cm gun
