Getting rewarded for ramming

This happened to me several times, and it's the most annoying thing in WT in my opinion, even worse then teamkilling (where the player at least gets fined).

Engaged in a dogfight with another player, going on for two minutes or so, I find him on my six. I break, and he doesn't, so he's getting closer and closer.

He managed to hit me two or three times, with light MGs, but no critical hit. When he's about to pass in front of me, getting me a chance to shoot him, he crashes on my tail, and I survive.

I don't get the kill, despite having hit him many times before, but I find myself with no tail control, and I crash on the ground seconds after, giving him a kill.

Is that fair? Do you think it could be fixed and how?

You missed the point

Oh you mean him getting the kill?

He hit you enough times to cause your plane to crash.  The ram would have been just icing on the cake.  If he had only rammed you and caused you to crash, without shooting you, he wouldn't have gotten the credit.

No, as I said, he hit me one or two times. I wasn't even pink. Then he crashed on my tail, causing it to become totally black and losing all control. But I survived a couple of seconds, enough for him to get the kill when I inevitably crashed on the ground.

Doubt he got the credit without a critical.  He was probably firing a burst into your tail the same second he flew into it.

Well thank you for your wild guesses. I hope other people know what I'm actually talking about.

Sounds like you both braked in opposite directions and somehow your tail must of swung right in front of him and he hit it.

Can't determine why he got the kill.

maybe he shot before he hit you and ended up nailing you tail control and then he hit your tail and your plane must done what i called "the falling leaf" and it carshed.  :dntknw:

thats what i can think of for what may of happened

Wait for the veteran players to see this maybe they will have something for you

Currently in WT it only takes a single hit (not a critical) to get a kill, if the player you hit crashes on the ground immediately after. Plus, it's possible to survive a crash where the other player dies and you don't.

Combine both this facts.

What I'm saying is that it's unfair for you to get a kill when I come out of the crash alive but so badly damaged that i can't control my plane and I crash on the ground. The fact that you hit me before shouldn't count, since I was perfectly able to maneuver before the crash.

To survive the player's kamikaze attack against you shouldn't be beneficial for him.

i think there's a bug with hits from a previous attack to a enemys vehicle still counting to that same enemy in he's new vehicle.. attack the same name/player multiple times in one match and you have better chances to get the kill!

do you know if he hit you earlier in that match? maybe in another vehicle? :)s

I was in my 109 G2 and I was out of cannon ammo and I still had 400 rounds of MG. So I went right above this guy in a bomber, dove straight down, firing my guns all the way, rammed his tail off and got the kill. No crits or anything. (And the reason I rammed him is because it's historically accurate. Luftwaffe in the end of the war resorted to ramming B-17's and B-24's, search it up if you don't believe me) But I wouldn't do that in my American or British planes as they didn't do that. But still, got the kill after no crit. So somethings a bit wrong there.

Ramming was a legitimate tactic during world war II.

There's actually a scene from a popular movie "the Battle of Britain" where It appears both pilots are out of ammunition and so the British spitfire Rams the German 109 ripping off both his wing and the German wing causing both to crash.

As such, sure it's an annoying tactic; but it's a real tactic, and technically should be awarded a kill.

I actually did this yesterday. Got a few good crits on an enemy plane I chased in Ground RB, but my japanese plane had very limited ammo left from a previous kill. I ran out and the enemy plane still seemed quite airworthy. He flew straight and slow, so I rammed into his Back between the fuselage and right wing Base. My left wing that I used as a sword broke off in this maneuver and I crashed ofc, but I got the kill immediately upon Impact.

The dude's first post on the forum is an 8 year old necro. 8 years! That's gotta be a War Thunder record. Nicely done! :good:
