Twan 914 Report post Posted March 28, 2013 Well, I'd guess that if they hit turbulence or something, so they don't bump their head on the way to the target, get knocked out and crash into the ocean

PerfectDeath 492 Report post Posted March 30, 2013 Did you know in the warring states period the Japanese infantry with their metal pointed hats would flip them upside down and use them to cook their rations? So why not cook dinner on the flaming wreck that is your plane!? =O

SuperDeluxe 493 Report post Posted March 31, 2013 Afaik, this "helmet" is made to protect from cold and sun while flying, not to provide protection from any damage. It helps the pilot do his job while flying. You don't want to loose a pilot because it's too cold or because he stayed a long time under the sun in his fighter. Hinty 140 Report post Posted April 2, 2013 Well, when it comes down to it, a Kamikazi pilot and a normal pilot have to do exactly the same things bar one. Land on the runway after the mission. How does a helmet help you land a plane? (Of course, if they flew out there and failed to find the target, or suffered prblems with their plane and had to turn back they'd have to land it too...)
