The Avro Type 694, better known as the Avro Lincoln, was a British four-engined heavy bomber, which first flew on 9 June 1944. Developed from the Avro Lancaster, the first Lincoln variants were known initially as the Lancaster IV and V but were renamed Lincoln I and II. It was the last piston-engined bomber used by the Royal Air Force. The Lincoln became operational in August 1945.The Lincoln was used in action during the 1950s, by the RAF in the Mau Mau Uprising in Kenya and with the RAF and RAAF during the Malayan Emergency. The type also saw significant service with the Royal Australlian Air Force (RAAF) and the Argentine Air Force (Spanish: Fuerza Aérea Argentina), as well as some civil aviation use. In RAF service, the Lincoln was replaced by jet bombers, chiefly the English Electric Canberra, as well as the three strategic bomber of Britain's V-force - the Vickers Valiant, Handley-Page Victor and the Avro Vulcan. In Argentine service it was also replaced by the Canberra.

+1

The Lancasters are pretty weak(talking from only fighting them, havent flown them) so this would give an opportunity to lower their BR a bit with a stronger heavy bomber available.

Lancs themselves should be Tier 3, along with the eventual Halifax.

Yes this needs to take the place of the Lanc at tier 4, although I do remember at one point I asked Lassar (long time ago) about it and he said there isn't any difference between the Lanc and this, which is odd as the armament is different

Airframe also had minor differences so they are definitely not the same like Lassar pointed out, but we Brits know better than a Russian Developer (no offense meant, we just know the planes we built more than any other country)

From most sources I found, including wikipedia, the Lincoln is not only better armed, but is also larger, has a longer wingspan, a different Rolls-Royce Merlin Engine and is faster.

In fact, the reason the Lincoln B Mk. 1 & 2 weren't called Lancaster B. Mk. IV & V is because it was a radical redesign of the aircraft and as such was given a new name. So there is no excuse from Gaijin NOT to add the Lincoln and down tier the completely overtiered Lancaster.

He might've had a bit to drink before he gave that answer.  We all have those days. :my_precious:

I'll support this.  The Brits had more types of heavy bombers in World War II than any other nation involved, and that's not even counting the imported B-17s and B-24s (referred to as the Fortress and Liberator) that they used, or the post-war imported B-29s (known as the Washington).

Only if it replaces the british B-29 that people were asking for sometime ago.

Also im suprised its not in the release tree. Its kind of a staple 4 engined bomber for the british.

This won't replace the Washington B.1, it doesn't even have the bomb load. This would only replace the Lancaster at Tier 4 so the Lancasters can be properly tiered at Tier 3.

Im just not keen on the "Washington". If britain gets it, then Russia will get the Tu-4. So we will have a bunch of spacebar-breaking B-29s running around. Rather spoils things, everybody having a B-29 that basically only differs in armament.

And besides, couldnt you just reduce the lancasters' BR without 'replacing' them at tier IV? Nevermind other important aircraft that have to compete for room in that tier III bracket (Manchester and Halifax).

Whats wrong with it where its at now? Its an XP pinata like every other tier IV bomber. And given that it replaced those earlier aircraft, it makes sense to be an early tier IV bomber, with the Lincoln coming after it.

Tu-4 is already on the Release tree.

The Lancaster is just not good enough for tier 4 it can't get to an effective altitude in realistic before you get found and killed you rarely get to drop your bombs I play all countries and only have this problem with Britain granted my German bombers a bit low so I'll retract them from the statement for now but they do have 20mm

The B17s, B24 and B29 all have great survival in realistic I rarely go down without a fight and usually pick up a kill or an assist.
Ny Russians just annihilate anyone who comes behind me I don't know of this is just me getting lucky or if the gunners are just that good.
Do I need to say how well I perform in my G8?

The Lancasters defensive armament is comparable to tier 2 bombers from these nations just because of its bombload does not mean it should be where it is.

Don't underestimate the Lancasters Defensive armament, imho though it should be Tier 3.

Yeah, well I've seen it a few times, and done it once with the Wellington Mk. X which has comparable armament, where a cocky Bf-109K starts a long distance relationship with his/her wing.
