  1. 1. Should the German captured M8 Greyhound be added as a playable vehicle?

    • Yes, whether it's premium or non-premium doesn't matter to me

Hello. I would like to suggest the Panzerspähwagen Ford M8/M20 (a). The Panzerspähwagen Ford M8/M20 (a) is an M8 Greyhound that was captured by Germany.

At the moment, we do not know when armored cars will be added to the game. Originally, they were going to be added after British tanks, but armored cars have become less of a priority and will likely come sometime after Japanese Ground Forces- Which means, unfortunately, they will likely not appear in game before the end of the year.

A while ago, I posted a suggestion to add the M8 Greyhound to the game which gained a lot of support, however being a mass-produced and fairly famous vehicle it must come in the researchable tree, which means it has to be added with the American line of armored cars first.

However, in the meantime, there is still a way for it to be added as a playable vehicle in game before the other armored cars are added. The German captured M8 Greyhound could be added for Germany, so people who want to drive armored cars early can buy it before the other armored cars are released- Much like the British premiums that were added in 1.53. It would also be nice because it would allow you to play the M8 Greyhound while at the same time researching something on the German line you want.

In game, the M8 Greyhound would be a fast vehicle with a rapid fire gun and some armor protection. However, its armor would only protect it from machine guns and would take longer to accelerate. The American version would likely be placed at 2.0 or 2.3. The German version would be placed at the same BR or one BR interval below it, because while some pictures show it with a ring-shaped machine gun mount (Such as the one above), it doesn't have an HMG mounted on it. It would also have an add-on armor modification available, that would add the side skirts above the wheels and the ring-mount with no machine gun on it. If you deselect this modification, the vehicle would appear like this:

But of course, it would still have the wheels :p: The Captured M8 Greyhound could be a premium Tier I or II vehicle, costing anywhere between 550 and 1,000 GE- Possibly around 600-700? This would enable it to be implemented before the whole lines of armored cars are implemented. Here are the specifications for the regular M8 Greyhound (It would likely not have a 12.7mm machine gun in game, because most pictures do not show it mounting one, and to distinguish it from the regular M8 Greyhound):

The armor was sloped, including a frontal glacis which was 19 mm (0.75 in) strong. The slope configuration gave extra effective thickness. The weakest part was clearly the floor, only 3 mm (0.12 in) thick. It was unable to resist a mine blast, which represented a serious threat for their M8 crews.

The T22 prototype was designed by the Ford Motor Company, in competition with other 6x4 and 4x4 designs submitted by Studebaker and Fargo. In any event only two armoured car designs would be accepted for series production-the General Motors' T17E1 and Ford’s T22, modified as T22E2, and it was this last, that in June 1942 became standardized as the M8. Production commenced in March 1943.

I wouldn't mind Germany having a captured version.  I just hope we see the Greyhound in the US tree pretty soon.,

This could be fun, so +1.

But if it's added I think the U.S. deserves a Greyhound in the standard tech tree to go with it.
