Swordfish MKII and Swordfish MKIV

I know there is another post of this, that was from my old account I plan on never using again, there is some info in it I'd like to retain, and new info I'd like to add!

This is the Swordfish MKII and Swordfish MKIV!

The Swordfish MKII: This is your standard run of the mill Swordfish being able to carry 8 rockets(four for each wing) and a Pegasus 30 engine, providing more power. This variant was produced starting in 1943 carried out until it was finished being produced in August 18, 1944, but still remained in service until the end of the war. The MKII was the variant that was the most produced, making 1,080 MKII Swordfish. The MKI Swordfish we all love, sits at a lovely 1.0br, I propose the MKII Swordfish to be in a dropbox underneath it, where it's not necessary to research it, but for all the fans of the Swordfish (Like me!) We can have this wonderful plane! The BR for the MKII I believe would be a 1.3, It's still the same Swordfish, but it has rockets and a new engine!

The Swordfish MKIV: A very late variant created in end of the war, are retrofitted MKII Swordfish, (still with the rockets!) and has an enclosed cockpit and retains the Pegasus 30 engine. The MKIV has an unknown amount of variants made, but real life variants are still in existence. The cockpit was fitted for colder climates and as such most went to the RCAF. (Royal Canadian Air Force) The cockpit is derived from the Gloster Gladiator. The Swordfish drop box proposal I have is to have the MKI Swordfish on top, being the one you would have to research first, then the MKII at a br of 1.3, and then the MKIV sitting nice and pretty at 1.5 or 1.7. We all know of the Swordfish being the everyman's and everywoman's Po-2 that's British and flies considerably faster, so let's get this thing more love! :good:

In light of the new Italian tree being released, I did some research on Italian captured Swordfish, and found out that numerous Swordfish were captured, one to particularly talk about is the one Swordfish K8422 that was shot down during a raid on a Maritza airfield, it was recovered by the Italians and went testing and was repaired using parts from another captured Swordfish where it was kept serviceable as an Italian flown Swordfish, with the roundels, however, it has been particularly difficult to locate real images of the Swordfish in Italian roundels, however there have been speculations how it would have looked, and I would be glad to see any images any of you would come up with! I think a captured Italian Swordfish would make a great tier 1 premium, price I would assume being 400 ge, B-10B level of pricing. The particular model would be the MKII to see it as a fair competitor, but if my suggestion for the MKII and IV don't get passed, it could easily be a MKI without much issue.

Now realizing that Naval battles are closer than ever, I suggest also that the Swordfish (every modification) now has depth charges, up to 1,500lbs worth, however it would only carry 4 of them. It would be very useful against enemy ships if they got close enough in tier 1 naval battles. But we know that the Swordfish survived throughout the entire war fighting throughout, so it could fight the higher tiers!

The MKIV Swordfish DOES have a rear turret, in the picture's it is hidden, the glass canopy covering the gunner spot slides up under the canopy and allows for more protection to the gunner, which should really be helpful when flying and fending off pesky He 112's and CR.42s! (amongst other planes)

Revised my facts on the Swordfish MKIV regarding the rear turret.

Thinking now about how the MKIV would be implemented, I would rather suggest the MKIV be placed in a folder with the MKII with the MKII at a BR of 1.3 and the MKIV being placed at 1.3 again.

Yes the Swordfish is a fantastic torp bomber also seen one of these fly in real life also hardly any modeling needs doing in terms of 3D & flight models wheels & hooks is about it, would love to see

these added also these should be put maybe under the navy line instead of the regular one but as they are dive bombers they might end up on the same line as the other. +1 :salute:

That is a pretty good idea! The issue with the Navy line as I see it, is that none of those aircraft are particularly large, save for the Firebrand and Firefly's. So I could definetly see it in either the Navy line or the regular bomber line! Thank you for your support!

I support this 100%.  I would also like to suggest the Float variant of the swordfish to be added as well, or maybe even make it a modification that can be switched on or off, affecting the speed by around 7-9 mph, similar to how different bombloads affect the speed of planes.  Its one of the things im hoping to propose that about the OS2U Kingfishers, as they too had wheeled versions that served operationally.
