The Purpose of this suggestion is to accomplish a bit more with Gaijin's excellent event work and to save the tears of half of the playerbase come April 3rd.

maxresdefault%20(5).jpg

As we all know, Gaijin introduces an April Fool's event around April 1 every year.  It's fun, it's new, people play it furiously until Gaijin takes the event off the page, with the players thinking about that time in nostalgia and eagerly await the arrival of the next April 1st.  It would appear that this April 1st will be particularly brutal for some as there's many players here that wish to see & play modern vehicles in War Thunder, and it would appear that at least a few believe these are here to stay.

Well... why can't they be here to stay?

The suggestion is this:

After April Fools ends and everyone's had their fun, offer the event up as a "minigame" in the Gaijin store that can be accessed in the War Thunder Events Tab.

The product would be a Minigame Authorization Pass which, once purchased, opens the April Fool's event in War Thunder's Events tab permanently for that user.

Money from the Pass purchases can be used to maintain said mini-game from patch to patch, keeping it in-date.  Perhaps some of the money can be used to improve the minigames themselves.  The rest, of course, can go to funding the main game.

So while y'all go off to play with your Leopard 2s and T-90s, remember that it doesn't have to be for the last time.

Brief example of "minigame improvement" here:

History and Specifications:

Developer: KB factory "Bolshevik", E.Grotte

Started in: 1931

The tank was only in draft form in mind the unreality of its embodiment.

In March 1930, to provide technical assistance to the Soviet Union, foreign experts were invited, among whom was a German engineer Edward Grotte. Under his leadership, by the autumn of 1931 at the Leningrad plant "Bolshevik" was designed and built an experienced medium tank TG. But mass production of this tank did not go. Work on TG were stopped, and decided to abandon further services E.Grotte.

However, as early as March 1931 E. Grotte UMM RKKA offered two options ton sverhtanka 1000 with the installation of weapons in three or six towers. The towers were installed two 304-mm guns, four 152 and 76-mm and two 45-mm cannon. The crew consisted of forty people. The armor protection of the frontal part of the hull and turret reached 300 mm, boards - 250 mm, the roof and floor - 60-100 mm. The machine was supposed to install several motors with a total capacity of 24,000 hp (17630 kW), which were to provide the speed to 60 km / h. Transmission of the tank - with hydro-electric control system. The chassis provided the use of a hydraulic suspension and triple tracks. When considering the conceptual design of the machine, it was recognized that the design of the tank would be extremely cumbersome and difficult to master in production.

Background and Specifications:

Background:

On June 23rd of 1942, Dir. Dip. Ing. Grote (along with Dr.Hacker) from the Ministry of Armament, who was responsible for the production of U-Boats suggested the development of a tank with a weight of 1000 tons. Adolf Hitler himself expressed interest in this project and allowed Krupp to go ahead with it. Project was designated as Krupp P 1000 (Ratte – Rat). This "land cruiser" would be 35 meters long, 14 meters wide and 11 meters high. P 1000 would be equipped with 3.6 meters wide tracks per side made of three 1.2 meters tracks, similar to those used in excavators working in coalmines. It was planned to power P 1000 with two MAN V12Z32/44 24 cylinder Diesel marine engines with total power of 17000hp (2 x 8500hp) or with eight Daimler-Benz MB501 20 cylinder Diesel marine engines with total power of 16000hp (8 x 2000hp).According to the calculations it would allow P 1000 to travel at maximum speed of 40km/h. P 1000 would be armed with a variety of weapons such as: two 280mm gun (naval gun used in Scharnhorst and Gneisenau warships), single 128mm gun, eight 20mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns and two 15mm Mauser MG 151/15 gun.

In December of 1942, Krupp created new design of 1500 ton tank – P 1500. It frontal armor would be 250mm thick and it would be armed with 800mm super heavy mortar "Dora" type and possibly two 150mm artillery pieces. P 1500 would be powered by two or four submarine diesel engines. In early 1943, Albert Speer cancelled both projects. P 1000 turret ended up at coastal defence battery (Batterie Oerlander) near Trondheim, Norway.

Even before P 1000 and P 1500, in 1939, Krupp began working on other similar projects for projected series of self-propelled coastal guns for the German Navy – Kriegsmarine.Series was to include 14 different platforms designated from R1 to R14. Armament was to range from 150mm to 380mm and it was to be mounted on fully traversible turntables on tracked carriages. One of the designs was R2 coastal gun armed with 280mm gun. The series never left drawing boards.

·         In the corresponding tier, the armament, loadout, armor, and performance of bombers will be swapped with that of a fighter’s as are heavy tanks with that of light tank’s (and vice versa).

10. [RB event only] “Opposite Day” (Operation Inversion)

·         Axis forces comprised of captured Allied aircraft and tanks disguised as Allied forces intercept Allied bomber formations & ground convoys pretending to be friendly escorts. Suddenly and without warning, the order is given from the Axis command to begin an all-out attack on enemy units. Meanwhile, the Allies launch their own campaign Operation Inversion utilizing their own captured Axis aircraft and ground units (disguised as friendly German, Italian, and Japanese units) to infiltrate Axis forces. As seemingly routine war operations fall into chaos, the outcome of the battle is ultimately determined by those who can figure friend from foe.

·         Best held with the large majority (70%+) of players are on respective sides from the beginning

.        RB or SB modes only (or AB so that everyone knows what's happening)

.        MM/pop-up objectives system give commands to "teamkill" enemies.

.         Details here: http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/204569-april-fools-2015-event-idea-o-day/

·         Alternate event idea: https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/204519-april-fools-2015-operation-o-opposite/

Event #11 design recommendation: intercepted players should not be able to tell between friendly & enemy players while being intercepted.

I'd go back and play all of these old events, especially the Pirate ships.    The only one I'm not too excited about is the current one.   It's just Meh.

I figured they're not cheap and take some cash to maintain, so if people went to play primarily the minigames instead of the actual game Gaijin would actually lose money on this proposition.  In this case, basically would disqualify this suggestion business-wise.

Anyways, poll added.

That's a No from me. Main reason: Splitting the community.

April fools is good as joke no standard game mod/mini game.

And after all players will get tired of it. Ther's no progression, unlocks, customization.

It's great event for few days and thats it.

Sure why not. If people want to spend money on it, let them.

Can't speak for others, but I've been pretty exhausted by the standard game.

And aren't "players will get tired of it" (which is a truism for basically any game) and "this will split the community" fundamentally contradictory?

Then why not have the April Fools events be availible in Custom Battles then....

i wouldn't buy it. ever.

would i play them? certainly.

the april fools modes are more therapeutic than anything, and allow players to derp around purely for fun as there's no element of grinding or accomplishment.

plus hey you get some extra funny videos out of WT youtubers.

Why keep the event when they get added 1 or 2 or 3 years down the road. Also there might be more testing down this road too.

They won't.

I'd personally prefer to see it added in-game as a seperate queue, primarily RB focussed gameplay, perhaps with one or two vehicles added per patch and perhaps a few fixes/mechanics implemented, I'd be willing to spend a moderate amount of money if they do choose to continue it's development, the amount of money depending on how polished they plan to make it.
