Marder DF 105 Combat Tank

 

Marder DF 105 is a prototype, built by specialists of the German company Thyssen-Henschel in 1979 in the cooperation between German and French. The German hull by Thyssen Henschel, intended for export. The hull is of the Marder 1 IFV, the tower is French-made FL-15 by the Fives Cail Babcock company (this turret was used in the late AMX-13 production as well).
First, the hull - the IFV Marder was developed 1971, based on the needs of the German-Western army, the Bundeswehr.
The Marder's hull is very little armored (protecting the crew and passengers from 20mm APDS shells only, later increased to 30mm protection due to the BMP-2's armament), but it is fast and well-armed.

 

This oscillating turret was equipped with modern electronics and targetting devices, such as the TCV 186 laser rangefinder and SOPTAC fire control system. The turret was equipped with the French 105mm FN gun, with autoloader if course. The turret itself was up to 40mm thick and had quite favourable depression and elevation in its cradle (-8/+12). Rate of fire of the 105mm gun was rated at 12 rounds per minute and the ammunition capacity was 50 shots of various types – HE(T), HEAP, HEAT, APDS(T) and APFSDS. The effective combat range (at which the vehicle could fire accurately) was cca 2000 meters, but in “artillery mode” (indirect fire), the gun could fire at longer distances, up to 8000 meters. The turret was also equipped with a coaxial MG with 5000 rounds of ammunition.

The entire vehicle weighed 30 tons and was powered by a 720hp MB-833 Ka-500 engine just like the TAM. Unfortunately, the top speed is not known, but it’s possible it was identical to the Marder IFV (which was 75 km/h). The vehicle could, apart from the standard crew of three, carry either 50 additional ammunition rounds, or 6 men in the back.

the french turret design was also use for the SK-105 Kürassier. Both tank should be german.  don't think simply selling the AMX turret should be a reason good enough to add it to the french. plus the French are not official yet.

Well you can also fit the Kurassier in the British tree as 52 were used by the Commonwealth nation of Botswana. You can't say the same for this vehicle, which I fully support for the German tree.

Built for export, German chassis, french turret, I say if there are no options for France it deserves it, if the British Tree ever becomes the commonwealth tree, deserves to go there as well, and for now no other option in the German tree for a 7.7/8.0+ light IFV/tank (not a light tank tis classified as an IFV, just as in the late part of the tree the heavy and medium classification falls off and you see MBTS come into the fold) so it belongs in the German tree as well +1 for those three trees because no one will ever agree about amalgamation like these getting into one specific tree.  Don't feed me reasons like we'll tis a French turret!  German chassis, Botswana used it!  Yeah, okay German designed export vehicle...so to save us all some time let's just site it for all three nations then there's no need for an argument about it.

Botswana used the SK-105, I don't think anyone bought this version but I could be wrong on that.

Ah, if true okay.  I was simply referring to people making the comment about Botswana using something similar.  Either way I see so many people arguing (not here) about where something should go I figured I'd address that.

i need to agree

 

the T17E2 was built by the United State. they are only in the British tree. the T14 was built to serve in both USA and UK as main tank. it didn't serve in any of them but only the USA got it. i would say if the tank was use by a country, it have the right to be added. if it was an unsuccessful prototype/export tank, it could be a good prenium/gift to the builder country. if it was bought use in a side country such as the Commonwealth for the British, it would depend of the fame of the usage of that tank. if it was build by a side country. it would be a prenium/gift.
 

France is likely to be added in the game someday. but i wouldn't say it should have every vehicles where they put a part in the design. the European Union work that way, they share many project between the member country. in the case of that marder. the German was leading the project and i think france was only having commercial interest in building the turret. i belive france will have a lot of vehicles on his own without needing to add those who are less than half french.

i think gaijin wouldn't mind to add a buyable premium that people would like to use. must of the premium i try was kinda disappointed. like the sherman Scorpion who is exactly like the firefly.

On the one hand, the Germans will not have many continuous shooting tanks so we hope that Gaijin as well as the other members of this forum accept these vehicles to help the German line and thus open up more space for continuous shooting tanks

The autoloder of this tank is really a drum based semi-autoader. It does the job in about the same amount of time that a similarly sized cannon would normally do it in, at best only slightly faster.
