I would like to suggest the Italian Fighter. the Reggiane Re.2001 Falco II

SW%2072033%20Re%202001%20Falco%20II.jpg

the Re.2001 was a Italian fighter that serve durring the ww2 along side the Mc.202. the production was limited to 252 plane but the flexible design allow it to fill many role. the plane was very maneuable and could fight the best of the allied plane including the supermarine spitfire.

610x250_ww2_wings-of-glory_re2001.jpg

the Re.2001 was a development of the Re.2000 which was been rejected from the Italian service due to his engine. The Re.2001 improved the engine for an Alpha Romeo inline of 1175 hp which was more powerful and reliable than the DB 601. the Re.2001 retained many of the design of the Re.2000, including many feature of the fuselage and the entire tail. the wing of the Re.2001 semi-elliptical design with three spars in each wing. the armament was all Breda-SEFAT, 2x 12.7mm was mounted in the nose (800 rounds) and 2x 7.7 on the wing (1600 rounds).

due to serial redesign delay, the Re.2001 was clear to production in June 1941. 252 plane was built including 100 serie 1, serie 2 and serie 3 with various armament variation.

the Re.2001 was built in 10 variation including prototype. many was converted variation of a already built Re.2001

Re.2001 Prototype, two built. Second prototype had three-spar wing, modified canopy and fixed tailwheel. First flight on May 1940

Re.2001 Serie I, First production series operated as Fighter/bomber and carrier trainer; also used for land-based catapult tests, 100 built.

Re.2001 Serie CB, Modified fighter-bomber produced from 1942, to carry 100 or 250 kg bomb under the fuselage for the attack role.

Re.2001 OR Serie II, Proposed ship-borne fighter version for the carrier Aquilla, 50 built. First addition of wing-mounted machine guns to development and optional cannon, able to carry a 600 kg torpedo or bomb as standard.

Re.2001 CN Serie III,  night fighter and fighter-bomber version, Two 20 mm Mauser MG 151/20 cannon (60 rounds each) were fitted in two gondolas, one under each wing..

Re.2001 CN Serie IV,   night fighter and fighter-bomber version, 74 built. Optional bombload of up to 640 kg (1,410 lbs) or additional fuel tank.

Re.2001 G/V, Modified fighter-bomber, with reinforced fuselage structure to carry a single 640 kg (1,410 lb) bomb with 120 kg HE, derived from a 381 mm shell. A small number of the variant was built; two G/Vs took part in Operation Pedestal but this was the sole use of the variant.

Re.2001 Delta, Prototype version powered by 840 hp Isotta-Fraschini Delta RC 16/48 engine, one built- first flight: 12 September 1942. After tests when a top speed of only 478 km/h at 5,760 m was reached, the Regia Aeronautica cancelled the 100 variants on order.

Re.2001bis, Prototype (MM.438) version with repositioned radiators, one built; although flight trials were successful, proving to be the fastest of the Re.2001 variants, it was converted back to a standard Re.2001.

I think two or three versions should be in game:

1) normal fighter with 2x12.7+2x7.7

2) fighter bomber, armed as above but with bomb rack - this plane potentially would overlap with Re2002

3) Re2001CN (already announced by Gaijin) - with all black skin just like the plane in 234 Squadriglia

In case 3 slots is not possible 1 and 2 could go together.

If two fighter-bomber is not approved, then let's have fighter (1) and night fighter (3) leaving fighter bomber role to Re2002.

Any of the prototypes could be premium, but it would not add so much to the italian collection.

I think Re 2001 was already confirmed

it was, but it's not really clear which one. i wanted to propose them all to see what the re.2001 can offer. some variants can easily make good premium, a few could even be German. Gaijin can use some feedback and extra documents from the fan-base while developing their planes.

i hope to see 5-6 of them in the regular at least. with different modification and some Re.2000/2002/2005 in the line, it would make a fair line
