I would like to suggest a nice and forgotten SPAA of 1945, the Flakpanzer IV Ostwind II

Introduction

the Ostwind II was a late SPAA designed in January 1945 and was mounting the Flakzwilling 44 37mm gun (actually a twin flak 43 side by side on a mount similar to the M42) the desing was simply a upgraded Ostwind with twin cannon. the Ostwind II was mounted on the PanzerKampwagen IV chassis with a Flakpanzer III turret (same as ostwind and Windelwind) in Junuary 1945 a single prototype was built at Teplitz or Duisburg (depending to the source) by Ostbau and soon after, 100 Ostwind II was ordered. 90 Flakpanzer III turret was ordered related to the production of the Ostwind II. the Russian took the Ostbau faculties soon after the order and before any other Ostwind II could be built and the prototype was lost with it (most likely destroy).

The Ostwind II was considered as obsolete as soon it was designed. the Flakpaner was all to be replaced by the Flakpanzer IV Kugelblitz in early 1945. the Ostwind II was simply ordered out of urgent need to have the SPAA against the Allied air superiority. the design of the Ostwind II was simple and fast and could easily be used to upgrade the Ostwind into Ostwind II. the production of the OstWind had been carried on in Selicia's Ostbau faculty and was interrupted to be moved to Teplitz and Duisburg and was about to start again when the order of the Ostwind II took place (Probably to replace the Ostwind)

I would actually suggest replacing the paper Coelian with this as the Coelian is now tier 4 and this would make the line more streamlined.

There are no plans to remove the Coelian or other planes/tanks from the game just because they are called "paper" or similar.

could do. but there is aslo the Zestrorer 45 with the quad 30mm who could do. the Ostwind II is like a german Type 65. in any case it would be nice to see it.

@SAUBER_KH7

Replacing inst removing, as this vehicle would basically be the same as the Coelian it would be one of the easiest replacements of any vehicle in the game. Gaijin has corrected names and 3d models before this would just be a bigger change than usuall.

Didnt the Zerstörer 45 also go by the name of Wirbelwind 2?

not as far i know. maybe unofficially. everywhere where i see mention of the Zerstorer 45 i do not see anything about Wirbelwing II.

here the both vehicles appear in the sub variant of the Ostwind

+1, would like to see this in the main tree between the Ostwind (4.7) and the Coelian (6.7), maybe at 6.0 or 6.3 because it doesn't have the armor of the Coelian but the same great guns and ammo.

the CAS is not what it was a few weeks ago. now the US and Uk plane are nearly useless against most of the ground target. i had to trade my wildcat for a black willow just because i can carry bomb strong enough for 1 or 2 tiger and this is only if i can manage to drop it close enough which is hard.

Are there any pictures of the prototype?

not as far i know but there is some trace here and there that the vehicles was actually built but the Russian advance was too fast at the moment. the Ostwind II's fate is unknown, it may had been used in combat and destroy or just left in a compound to rust unnoticed or even lost in a bomb raid. the only think i know is the Ostwind II was not mentioned as captured by the Russian. i keep looking anyway. i will also draw a fast blueprint to show how it was probably looking like by fitting the armament disposition on a Ostwind I blueprint. the artistic reproduction should'n be very far from what the vehicles was looking like.

Maybe more BR 5.3 in realistic. the twin gun is better but is likely to be synchronized like the coelian. the twin gun will merely do more damage since a single bullet is nearly destroying the plane in a single shot and the second one is likely to miss, on a ground target, shooting twice at the same place is not making much difference, for example; a bullet of the 37mm will kill the gunner, 2 bullet will not kill the same gunner twice. a bullet will break the engine, 2 bullet will break it all the same.

in conclusion, a twin gun with no other upgrade will barely make the vehicles more performing than the vehicles with a single gun. it will simply make the plane easier to shoot down while been still vulnerable to air attack and enemy tanks. the Coelian have a lot more protection against air attack and the hull still can take good hit on the front. the Ostwind cannot take much hit even from small guns.

I wouldn't mind seeing this, although I'd still prefer to see the Super Coelian first with 2x 5.5cm guns.

+1 as a premium/event vehicle since only 1 was made and it wouldnt be all that much different from the regular ostwind (synchronized guns).

I'm actually wondering how you found that thing ^^ i did a lot of research on all nations's SPAAs and never found a "twin ostwind" but only the "Zersörer 45" so thats pretty interesting to see.

you probably just didn't read about the vehicles that is already well know. i notice the Ostwind II when i was reading about the variant of the Panzer IV on wiki and then i make some more research about the ostwind II specifically and found a lot of trace and mention. it's just without picture, this Ostwind II was forgotten by most people.

and for the premium thing. to be fair, the Coelian was never built and it is regular, the Ostwind II was completed only once but the Mass production was started. it have good reason to be regular too.
