T21 75mm Recoilless rifle mounted version

Quote

Although the installation of the recoilless rifle and mortar on the M37's machine gun mount was impractical, it was desirable to provide a suitable motor carriage for recoilless weapons. In June 1945, the Director of the Ordnance Research and Development Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground proposed the installation of a full battery of four 105mm recoilless on a suitable vehicle. Since there were no 105mm recoilless rifles immediately available, four T21 75mm recoilless rifles were selected and installed on a modified twin 40mm gun motor carriage M19. The 40mm guns were removed and replaced by the recoilless weapons on the modified M12 mount.

This vehicle is armed with 4x 75mm T21 Recoilless rifles, not sure how much ammo can be carried.

The test firing at Aberdeen proved to be successful and it was recommended that the development program continue using T19 105mm recoilless rifles when they became available. The 105mm installation was completed in 1946 and evaluated at Aberdeen. However, now that the war was over, no additional M19s were converted.

Same as T21 mounted version, but only the gun is different. it has 105mm T19 recoilless rifle. which is later designated as M27 recoilless rifle.

T22 75mm anti aircraft gun mounted version.

Quote

On 1 February 1945, OCM 26544 recommended the development of a self-propelled mount for the 75mm gun T22. This weapon was intended for use as an antiaircraft gun at short to medium ranges using the new radio proximity fuze. At that time, the 75mm projectile was the smallest that could be fitted with such a fuze. The 75mm gun T22 was installed on the mount T18 with a recoil operated loader-rammer. Using this arrangement, the gun was designed to fire automatically at a rate of 40 to 45 rounds per minute.

The Chassis of the twin 40mm gun motor carriage M19 was selected for the installation of the T22 gun and the T18 mount. the mount for the dual 40mm gun was removed and an adapter ring was used to install the T18 mount.

Tests at Aberdeen Proving Ground ran from February 1946 to June 1948. Problems with the loader-rammer made it extremely difficult to obtain automatic fire and then only when the gun was in a horizontal position. This may have been fortunate since it was determined that the natural frequency of the vehicle suspension was approximately the same as the firing rate of the automatic cannon. Needless to say, this would have resulted in destructive vibration during automatic fire. Further tests with M19 chassis were discontinued, but the experience was useful during the development of the postwar Skysweeper antiaircraft gun.

I don't have any information about this. I will find it and add it ASAP.

If anybody have data of it and not mind please share.

The T21 with the 75mm RRs would be a fun little addition to mid tiers. I don´t see a place for the T22 though, since the playstyle would probably quite equal to the Ontos and would be at a similar BR, which is why I don´t think we really need it in the TT or as a Premium

oh my god. M19s that don't suck!? hell yes for all 3!

all 3 are kind of impractical considering RRs just kind of suck in general, but being able to go nuts with a bunch of RRs would make for some fun gameplay. and since the M19 is so light to begin with, its ability to scoot and shoot will be great.

I'd definitely like to see the 75mm-armed one.  It could be the American answer to the Flaktrak or 29-K.

Can't really comment on the recoilless rifle vehicles since I don't have any experience with those weapons in tank games yet.

So +1 for sure, tentative +3.

Is there any information for the penetration of the 75mm HEAT-T M310A1, 105mm HEAT M324, or the 105mm HEAT M341?

The automatic 75mm with proxy rounds would be a fantastic mid tier aa. Everything the US has after the dakka halftracks until the m163 kinda sucks.

True, true. The gap between M42 and M163 is a painful one.
