Even though the BMD-3 was certainly an upgrade over the BMD-2, it was lacking the “umpf” that the 73-MM HE-Frag brought with it. It was decided to use KBP’s new B8R01 “Bakhcha-U” universal combat module, in order to bring the firepower to the level of the Army’s BMP-3. The new turret brought with an impressive FCS that included

  • New Multi Channel Gunner’s Sight

The new sight combined a Day Sight, Night Sight, Thermal, Range Finding and an ATGM channel.

  • A Multi Channel Independent Commander’s Sight

The B8RO1 was the first Russian IFV turrets to include a panoramic sight for the commander. As such it was the first Hunter-Killer capabilities. The commander shares all but the AGTM guidance channel.

  • A New Stabilizer

The new one decreased the minimal movement speed to .02 Deg/S and increased the maximum to 60 Deg/S.

  • Environmental Monitoring Equipment

Non FCS Upgrades Included

  • Module Add-on Armor

Depending on the requirement of the base chassis, additional armor can be added to Bakhcha. Going from 12.7(BMD-4) all the way to 30-MM(BMP-3M).

  • Larger Automatic Loader

The improved automatic now carried a maximum of 34 HE-Frag rounds.

  • ATGMs No Longer Loaded by the Gunner

ATGMs were now serviced by their own automatic loader that more than double their RoF

This turret gave BMD-4 an unmatched firepower that allowed for accurate fire, no matter the conditions, whether they be day, night, afloat, or even behind cover. BMD-4 even surpassed the Army’s BMP-3. With the new FCS and the added 100-MM gun, Bakhcha-U increased the firepower of BMD-3 no less than 2.5 times.
On December 31st, 2004, the BMD-4 was accepted into service with Russian Air Force and the first units being delivered to 137th Guard Airborne Regiment in 2005. However, success would not last long, when in 2007 Volgograd Tractor Plant would declare bankruptcy and production would be handed over to Kurganmashzavod. Kurgan ceased production, with only 60 being built, in order to provide unification with their BMP-3.

Hell yes #2!!! Having this vehicle in WT (or any BMD, but this one especially) is essential to my interests.

Much hate for Kurgan for dropping this wonderful beautiful IFV!

I mean it's not all bad. The 4M gains a 500HP and some add-on armor. In War Thunder, IMO, it should also get the 3UFO19-1 with a proximity fuse.

I don't understand why you say it's not all bad. Or do you mean that instead of BMD-4 the BMD-4M is being produced?

Mainly as in a War Thunder comparison but also IRL.

Neither of them are bought/produced now (BMD-4,BMD-4M).

+1 after the US gets at least one IFV along with Japan and France getting IFVs (Russia currently has 2, these countries have none)

Agreed. US should get it's M2s and M3s. Japan should get the B78 and the Type 89.

suggestion ..... see all instruments of the tank, multy crew night vision not play a model like a bt 5

To be honest this is why I kind of don’t want to see them go full-post Cold War until until the Cold War is fleshed out and everything, that’s if they do go modern.  Because when they finally get around to doing this, you have 2000s tanks with 2000s equipment fighting 1970s tanks and stuff.

BMD series are good but so many features are just same as BMP series.

It just like M2 and M3 Bradley in game at same time. No difference in armament but worse ammunition carrying capability.

Which one are you comparing to which?

No? BMD-3 carries more of 30-MM ammo and ATGMs than BMP-2 and BMP-3.  BMD-4 carries the same amount as BMP-3. While having less 100-MM due to everything being in the automatic loader.

BMP-3 carries 3 missile in turret and 5 missile in hull while BMD-4 carries only 4 missile in turret.

My bad I had forgotten how many the BMP-3 carried. Even then, one does not invalidate the other.
