Introduction:

In War Thunder, the J-7C and J-7D would be tier 6 jet fighters in the PLAAF fighter line. Both of these aircraft could be after the J-7II. The prototype aircraft was named the J-7III, and the production model was named the J-7C. The J-7D is an improved version of the J-7C. The prototype of the J-7D was named the J-7IIIA. As a result, the J-7C and J-7D can be in a folder together. Since this aircraft is a redesign of the MiG-21MF, it should have a BR of 10.3, because the German MiG-21MF has a BR of 10.3.

Background:

The J-7Ⅲ / ⅢA (also known as: J-7C / D) is a Chinese redesign of the MiG-21MF all-weather fighters from Romaria and Bangladesh. It is equipped with a P-13F-300 engine, mimicking the MiG-21MF. In February 1978, the Chinese aviation industry delegation visited Romania and inspected the MiG-21MF aircraft used in these countries. After returning home in June 1978, it was decided to develop a J-7 based on the MiG-21MF. The redesigned aircraft was jointly undertaken by Chengdu Aircraft Manufacturing Plant, Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute, Shenyang Aircraft Manufacturing Plant and Guizhou 011 Base. In August, China sent two groups of personnel to Romania and Bangladesh to further investigate and learn more about the local MiG-21MFs. The team brought back the canopy, cannon, and some components of the aircraft. One of the MiG-21MF and MiG-21UC prototypes was purchased from Egypt in December, and shipped to China in early 1979. The J-7 major modification was officially named the J-7III, and later renamed the J-7C.

In March 1979, the J-7III model was to be fully undertaken by the Chengdu Aircraft Manufacturing Plant. In April, it was decided to copy and improve on the basis of the prototype. The overall design was completed in December 1980, and all drawings were completed in January 1982. On January 11, 1984, prototype 02 completed the assembly, and on February 6, the prototype 01 completed assembly, and the MiG-21MF aircraft that was shipped from Egypt to China on March 25 made its first flight after repairs. On April 12 01 The first prototype of the No. 1 ground taxi test. On April 26, 1984, the J-7III made its first flight to the sky at the Chengdu Aircraft Factory. On May 2, 1984, the prototype 03 also completed the assembly. From May 11 to November 19, the prototype 03 ~ 06 flew for the first time. In April 1987, the JL-7 radar used to equip the J-7Ⅲ was completed. On November 27, it was used to equip the P-13F-300 engine equipped with the J-7Ⅲ, which was copied from the MiG-21MF. The turbojet engine was finalized, and the J-7III was  finalized on December 9. In 1988, the first eight J-7IIIs were shipped, but due to the production progress of the turbojet engine, the first batch of eight J-7IIIs were not delivered to the Chinese Air Force until December 30, 1989. The J-7III was discontinued in 1996, and only 17 were produced.

J-7D:

In 1988, Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation and Guizhou Aviation Industry Corporation jointly improved the J-7Ⅲ, known as the J-7ⅢA, and later renamed the J-7D.The main improvements are the replacement of the turbojet engine with increased thrust, the replacement of the HK-03D sight with a head-up display, the JL-7A fire control radar, the combined electronic countermeasure system, and the new chaff / flare system. It made its first flight on August 20, 1991. It was designed and finalized in November 1994. It began to equip the Chinese Air Force and Navy Air Force in 1995. Production was discontinued in 1999, and a total of 32 J-7Ds were ever built. Since the Chinese Air Force introduced the Su-27 fighter jet, which is far more advanced than the J-7 series in the early 1990s, the total amount of J-7Cs and J-7Ds that were built is below 50 units.

I agree. I'm tired of seeing these ROCAF copy+pastes.

 

I want to see some PLAAF planes, that were actually built in China.

Manufacturers are removing cannons from J-7G because reduce weight. They have only one cannon. Moreover, J-7G is still too early for this game.

J-7III should be implemented as an aircraft between J-7II and J-7G.

I don't see why we can't have both aircraft. The more Chinese jets, the better.

i just don't want another copy paste mig 21 variant for the Chinese, i would much rather something a little more "home grown" for the tech tree. And i wouldn't care if the j7g comes with only one gun, just learn how to not waste ammo. Could you also explain how the j7g would be too early to see in game as of now?

Do you know state of Type-30 (NR-30) cannons in 1.101 versions?  Of cause it's better than Hispano and Shvak, but they are already useless in top tier.
I have played Air RB a few times with MiG-21 F-13 on my friends account, but they sparked a lot.
What are you going to do with just one cannon?
I welcome J-7G, but I don't know they will be practical in Air AB/RB.
