14/9/2020 AIM-9D - incorrect seeker uncaging

Hello, after reviewing sources I found out that the old bug report of giving the AIM-9D sidewinder the ability to uncage the seeker is incorrect:

In reality the AIM-9D should not be able to uncage its seeker before being launched and it should act like the AIM-9B.

"a maximum of 1.25° of aerodynamic lead"

1.25° is half of the 2.5° seeker FOV, if you could uncage the seeker you would be able to give up to 20° aerodynamic lead

 

 

 

another table shows that the AIM-9D uncages its seeker at the same time as the AIM-9B, the time the trigger is pressed.

it doesnt uncage it before launch, like it is in WT Right now.

P.S.

 

this would greatly nerf the british F-4 phantoms, so I would suggest to give them AIM-9G as other option, the G can uncage the seeker

I see.

 

OP and myself got mislead by the fact that it doesn't un-cage prior to launch, but after the firing sequence is started, in the 0.8s prior to leaving the rail.
