History

    The 500,000 t Battleship is Japanese paper-plan battleship planned in 1910s by Japanese naval officer, Captain Kaneda Hidetaro [金田秀太郎]. He was a specialist of naval gunnery, not ship designer but he belonged to IJN technical department and provided several ideas for engineers.

 

    Kaneda thought that if Japan needed to build a large fleet of one million tons, it would be better to have one or two ships which is able to win any huge enemy fleet, instead of dividing this into dozens of ships.

    To make possible to defeat any ship, it must be stable platform for cannons. Therefore, firstly he calculated the width of the ship. In that time, known maximum wavelength on the sea was approx. 160 feet, so he determined width of the ship as about twice of it, 300 feet. Following to this width he calculated other dimensions, and displacement become 500,000 t. In addition, he selected the largest cannon available at the time, 50-caliber 3rd Year Type 41 cm gun.

 

    He submitted this plan to other shipbuilding engineers at Kure Arsenal. A shipbuilding director, Vice Admiral Yamada Sukehisa (山田佐久) answered him that if they build a ship with a displacement of 500,000 t, thickness of the keel will be over one feet, and diameter of rivets to assemble it will over 6-inch but they don't have a way to riveting it. 

    Against this idea, Yamada talked him a his idea that semi-submergible ten of thousands of tons of battleship with dozens of torpedo launchers. However, this idea was not become aa drawing.

In the game, this battleship will be mighty floating fortress which is able to destroy enemy fleet completely. Dozens of 41 cm cannon fires at one salvo and it can destroy any warship immediately. In other hand, unusual displacement make possible to equip extremely heavy armor and enough space for protection. Weak point will be lack of anti-air equipment, but even if pilots are using  FAB-5000 it is difficult to sunk this extremely heavy hull.

Lets implement this battleship and destroy everything!!
