NAYEONnaise 1,936 Report post Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) the ZTZ99A, despite being a new model with supposedly better protection than the 99-III, seems to be a direct downgrade in terms of UFP armor. 1. Why is the UFP weaker than the 99-III despite the near-similar ERA arrangement and hull angles? Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler 2. There is no weight reduction from the 99A that signifies armor loss. It also gained 4 tons from the new engine (ZTZ99-III: 51t, ZTZ99A: 55t), and maybe other factors. supplementary question: can anyone here verify the weight of the 12V150HB-1 engine by itself? 3. Is it only really the 99A's turret that is covered with FY-5 (Relikt-like in terms of protection), and not the upper hull (currently only using FY-4)?
