  1. 1. Do you want M36 Jackson in the italian tree?

  2. 2. Where do you whant it?

General Info

The M36 GMC was a tank destroyer developed during World War 2 by the United States for the U.S. Army.  The U.S. Army foresaw the eventual obsolescence of the M10 as they were aware of the limitations of the 3-inch gun M7.  In late summer 1942 work began on developing a tank destroyer with a 90mm gun.  After several flawed designs the Ordnance Department (of the U.S. Army) eventually settled on mounting the 90mm gun M3 on the turret and hull of the M10 tank destroyer.  With some tweaking, including modifications to the turret and using the M10A1 hull (based upon the M4A3 as opposed to the M4A2 of the M10 hull) it was standardized as the 90mm Gun Motor Carriage M36 (nicknamed the Jackson or the Slugger) on 1 June 1944.   After World War 2 the Italian Army procured several copies of the M36 and a very few copies of the M36B1.  The Italian Army also used both the M3 and the improved M3A1 90mm guns. (The Italian TT already has the M36B1 with the M3A1 gun). The Italian Army also procured a few models of the M36B2.
The M36B2 was a variant of the Jackson that had the hull of the M10 (a cut down M4A2 instead of the M10A1 hull which was a cut down M4A3).  In Italian Service it also had a roof.
Furthermore the Italian Tech Tree should receive: The 90mm Gun Motor Carriage M36 (Jackson or Slugger)

Armament+Equipment

M3 90 mm gun (able to shoot M77 AP, M82 APCBC, M304 APCR, M71 HE and M313 Smoke)

M2 12,7 mm machinegun

Why it should be in game

I am proposing this vehicle in it's base M36 configuration.  This version had the M3 90mm gun and was on the modified M4A3 hull used on the M10A1.  I am proposing this vehicle as a Premium/Event/Battlepass vehicle only.  This exact model is used by the United States and China and I do not wish to dilute the tree with excessive copy paste.  By making it a Premium/Event/Battlepass vehicle it would be suitably rare.  It also should come with the Ariete Division skin to keep it in line with the other premiums and to make it more visually distinctive.

+1 congrats on your first suggestion! :good:

I think that this vehicle, while not necessarily needed, would fit nicely within the Italian TT due to having similar gameplay mechanics to many Italian native designs (glass cannon with great gun, bad armour and decent mobility).

I think it would be a decent premium, or preferably a pack vehicle that you can buy with something else (perhaps together with an Italian spitfire/mustang, in some sort of co-belligerent/post-war pack).

Note: in the book inscription under the photo below tells that it's M36B1, though it seems it's just a mistake as it's definitely M36B2.

Would rather not as we already have the m36 in 2 other trees. France has many  indigenous and more effective vehicles that could be added

Italy also already has another version of the m36 (the m36b1).

The M36B1 with the M3 cannon could be added and was proposed very long time ago. Since it would have the standard 90mm cannon and no access to the HEAT rounds it could be placed to a lower BR respect to the Japanese.

French vehicles don't belong to this discussion, don't derail the thread thanks.

No, primarily because this would be another M36. Although it's the older version which would still earn it a 5.3, that's with no other vehicles in said lineup. Italy's 5.0 isn't bad, but I'd much rather take unique additions, even ones from countries such as Turkey or Hungary, over nigh-indistinguishable variants.
