More PRC/PLA medals

The age of the vehicles in WT has reached the modern age. World War II vehicles are no longer the majority. And the vast majority of Chinese medals are from the KMT government during World War II. As we all know, from 1949 onwards, it no longer represented China.Most of China's vehicles belong to the PRC/PLA. I think the status quo is inappropriate and more PRC/PLA medals should be added.

First of all, I have no intention of exacerbating contradictions or mixing political factors.

 I will briefly introduce the PRC/PLA medal and then make recommendations. The principle is that there are as few political factors as possible and as few factors as possible related to civil war.

 

Why is there so little knowledge about PRC/PLA medals?

An important principle of the PLA is that officers and soldiers are equal, but their duties are different.Therefore, in history, the PLA has repeatedly struggled with whether to implement a military rank system and the corresponding medal system.The medal system was interrupted several times.On the other hand, before the establishment of a new government, the material conditions of the PLA were very difficult. There is no idea to design and manufacture beautiful medals.Most of the medals before 1949 were issued by the individual armies themselves. It mainly plays a role in commemorating and recording merit. It is not issued uniformly by the PLA.

A.Ranks and medals-1955

In 1955，for the first time, the PLA introduced a rank system and awarded medals in a uniform style.。The 1955 medals mainly symbolize seniority. Officers and soldiers are awarded according to when they joined the PLA and what highest position they held at that time. As for merit, there is no need to discuss the merits of those who survived the brutal 3 wars and the Long March, without making major mistakes, and survived to the establishment of New China.

1.Ordor of the August 1st（1955）：

1st-3rd class：Awarded to middle and senior officers of the Red Army period（Aug 1, 1927 - Jul 6, 1937，civil war）

 

Medal of the August 1st（1955）:Awarded to low-ranking officers and soldiers during the Red Army（Aug 1, 1927 - Jul 6, 1937，civil war）

 

2.Order of the Independence and Freedom：

1st-3rd class：Awarded to middle and high-ranking officers during the War of Resistance against Japan（Jul 7, 1937 to Sep 2, 1945，War against aggression）

 

Medal of the Independence and Freedom：Awarded to low-ranking officers and soldiers during the War of Resistance against Japan（Jul 7, 1937 to Sep 2, 1945，War against aggression）

 

 

3.Order of the Liberation：

1st-3rd class：Awarded to middle and high-ranking officers during the War of Liberation（Sep 3, 1945-Jun 30, 1950，civil war）

 

Medal of the Liberation： Awarded to low-ranking officers and soldiers during War of Liberation（ Sep 3, 1945-Jun 30, 1950，civil war）

 

Later, in 1965, the PLA abolished the rank system.The new medal was not established until 1979.

B.Military Merit Medal-1979

In fact, PLA has always had a military merit system.But there is no stable, uniform style of medal to match.In 1979, the unified military merit medal style of the whole army was established for the first time.

1.Medal for Heroic Model， there are 2 class(Awarded to those who have the honorary title of heroic model)

2.Medals for Military Merit ，there are 3 class（Awarded to meritorious personnel）

 

Since then, a number of medals have been established when the rank system was restored in 1988. In 2011, the Military Merit Medal was renewed and a number of service medals were added. In 2022, a brand new medal system was released, including the updated Military Merit Medal, as well as the new Order of the Aug 1st, the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of Peace, etc.But these are too new to fit in the game. I personally hope that gaijin will add all PLA medals for us to replace ROC's medals and keep only a few representative ROC medals. Now there are too many medals for ROC and too few for PRC.If there is still a time when World War II vehicles are still the majority, then there is no problem with using ROC medals. But the situation is clearly no longer suitable.It's not fair.

If Gaijin wants to steer clear of sensitive political topics, we understand.

Then I propose that the Ordor of the Independence and Freedom, which has no civil war or political factors at all, and the 1979 Military Merit Medal be added to China's new medal and replace some ROC medals.

We already have Medal of the Independence and Freedom in the game, so why not add the others?

C：After the victory of the Korean War, the high-class Ordors awarded to the CPVA（Chinese People's Volunteer Army） by North Korea.

1.Gold Star Medal（Hero of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea，12 Chinese warriors acquired）

2.Order of the National Flag，1st class

 

3.Order of the Independence and Freedom，1st class

4.Order of Soldier ，1st class

 

The Korean War was a brutal and great war.The new Chinese army defeated the United States and its allies (aka, the United Nations forces at that time).But for well-known reasons, the war became a forgotten war.Perhaps we can also choose some medals awarded by North Korea to Chinese soldiers as a supplement.

plus, ROC medals for WWII is nice and fine with historical meanings

but we've already stepped into cold war and even furthermove era

which means, maybe more PLA medals can be added...

I don't think it's a good idea to add medals directly. That would show too many medals and the whole system would be too bloated. I suggest replacing some of them with more advanced medals, such as the "Baoding" medal or the "Yunhui" medal. The next level can replace the "Renaissance" medal

One of the "Yunhui" medal or "Baoding" medal can be replaced by the "August 1" medal or the "Red Flag" medal, while the "Renaissance" medal can be replaced by the "Military Merit" medal. They also have three levels

Yes, adding new ones is certainly not the best option, that looks bloated. It is also not very convenient to set new conditions for fulfillment.As I said above, there are too many ranks of the same medal in the existing ROC medal, which is very unfair to the PLA. Too many of the same medals are too boring. The best option is to remove some of ROC's duplicate medals and non-famous medals and replace them with PLA medals.

The thing about PRC medals is that some of them historically only existed after the 1970s, and that usually meant Rank V+ vehicles are required to get it.

 

But yes I agree ROC's medal is too reduntant. For example the Tripod medal can be left with only 9th, 7th, 5th and 4th class.

The misunderstanding about the PLA medal system is that before the 1970s, there isn't a unanimous grading for the metal award system. But they have lots of metal in this period, such as Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea Medal (1955), Republic Medal (1955) etc. this article gives a brief intro to PLA medal (written in Chinese).

I meant there's some medal suggested existed only after Deng Xiaoping's era. Those medals then became modern PLA medals.
