I don't think that it is a good comparation, since the fuselage of the f14 generates a lot of lift

If that's your concern, then don't go underestimating the 41 at lower air speeds since a player good at managing manual engine control will be able to flip the switch on those lift jets to generate a LOT of lift to help push the nose up while the main engines maintain forward thrust.  The Yak-38 can do that trick and it dramatically improves turning performance.  It just doesn't matter much for the 38 since the baseline performance for the 38 is so abysmal.  Assuming that gaijin implements the same restrictions on the yak-41 as the yak-38, then it will only be able to play that trick at speeds below about ~500kph IAS, which is very slow for that BR but sometimes players dip that low while in the midst of a gunfight.  It catches people by surprise though when the lift jets do kick in and you start maneuvering in a way that they didn't expect.

yeah that trick does improve the turn rate on the yak 38, but that doesnt take out the fact that even then the turn rate keeps being abismal, the difference is that you wont eat the floor.... not to mention that in top tier going at less than 500kmh is a death sentence

I have already been corrected from a previous post.

Edit: R-77s were found in the files for the Yak-141, but don't expect anything about them this update.

No, the Yak-141 physically cannot carry R-60s.

.. Just like most Soviet 4th gen jets envisioned in the early 1970s, the Yak-141 was planned to use R-60/R-60M missiles as well since the R-73 was still far from completion.

Why does the top clip say it used a 23mm cannon where everything else, including your second clip, says 30mm?

The main built-in cannon is the 30mm but it could also use the GSh-23 in gunpods.

Probably just a bit of future-proofing. If they are already in the process of making the weapons loadouts, might as well make the slots for them now and hide them. Should make it easier to update in the future when everything else is getting AMRAAMs and Adders

I agree with that line of thinking, saves time in the future.

Should the Yak 141 have IRST?

The one in the museum did not

It does not even have the IRST stand

Getting 2v1'd is a death sentence.  I've seen plenty of planes dip below 500kmh in top tier when stuck in a gun duel trying to force the opponent to overshoot within a rolling scissors.

Anyone know what is the left intake on the spine lead to?

If it lead on the back of the aircraft, then it would not be possible to install flare dispenser on the left spine.

What is the source of this image?
I assume X-25MT is the TV guided version?

Yefim Gordon's book mentions "Kh-25 air to surface missiles" without specifying the variant and Piotr Butowski and John Fricker's book mentions Kh-25MR (radio command variant) and Kh-25MP (Anti radiation variant).

The Yak 41M in game is the "ultimate" version. It was planned to get the same radar and IRST suite as the MiG 29, OEPS-29 and OLS-29

It does not have the paint job of a 41M......

The number is 75, one of the prototype...

So no IRST is ever installed or ever tested on the airframe in game.

yak 141 surprised me as being probably the best fighter for my play style. Insane acceleration (best acceleration in game), great climb and alpha like the J8. decent radar and 4x hyper fast SARHs. Helmet mounted sight AND an IRST for boom zoom ambush tactics.

Did the Yak 141 really have IRST too?

The YaK is literally the soviet navy's answer to the F14A (of course until the SU33)

This patch is probably my favorite over the mig29/f16 implementation. GJ is low key on a roll these last few patches.

The one in-game is not a Yak-41M or a Yak-141. It's a frankenstein of the Yak-41 prototype '75' with a bunch of features projected for a production model to be made later.

So fantasy never built 41M then

yes. none of the built ones ever fired any weapons. it's a fictional vehicle.

all of the Yak 41s are prototypes.
there were no serial models
the entire aircraft is fictional.

That line of thinking does not apply to like a good 1/4th of the vehicles in game, this plane existed, it flew, and it carried suspended armaments.
