And never will, it's far too frustrating, that's why I joined a squad.

IT considerably tilted the match...i am not so sure if it was the coordination, or the simple fact we had a much more capable set of players (the clan seemed to have the more experienced players in the match...and they all went to our side)...

I actually believe this should be fun (playing as clan)...only thing i can think of is Matchmaking SHOULD try to balance things...

Side note...it was airfield domination...and also first time i managed to land, as the sky was almost clear over the airfield...got a reward for landing a critically damaged plane...never done that before ;)

And plane repaired and rearmed while my "teamates" kept the sky almost clear...

Why the heck do we even have airfield domination as a game mode in jet tier??? landing almost always equals death... you don't even need to crash the fact the red team spawns as 500kph/ias less than 8km plus your lack of ias and how long it takes to get down to landing speed make it suicidal to even make the attempt. The only time it is viable is if one side has been so obliterated than thy cant put up any fight... At that point you have already won the match through air domination....

 

As far as limiting clans in jet tier .... I think it would be more useful to promote jet tiers than to limit players.  After all if we had more randoms like me playing it would fix the issue as well as the queue times and other problems associated with low player populations.

 

In short I think we need more people playing not less. :salute:

 

Edit: why is it landing any aircraft on an airfield able to cap it ..... is Gaijin under the mistaking impression that No Kum-sok captured South Korea???:blink:

Seriously why is this a thing?  We all know infantry capture ground objectives right?  :dntknw:

Well, I value your input and definitely agree we need more players. I am not hoping this suggestion would limit the enthusiasm.That being the case, random players like you and me should not face a clan of 3 or 4...with only 5 or 6 players in each team, regardless.

This is another fine case of calls to break the game to fix the issue.

The issue is not squads or matchmaker, the issue is so few players playing jets.

 

As we see elsewhere, broken parts of the game drive away players and other things are broken in turn to make up for those missing. It's the war thunder way and the wrong way.

 

The answer to this problem is to get more players playing jets, but that horse bolted years ago.

I agree with you, and then not... :ready:

I agree in so far as that we should get more people to play jets. But if rounds are just 6 players strong, an unbalanced 4-squad turns a match into a foregone conclusion. Chances are 75%, that you will be cannon fodder for these squads. Will this promote jets to new jet players in their unspaded crates?

But there are far more broken elements to jets than unbalanced teams because of squads, all of them promoted and implemented by gaijin. High tier premiums providing instant access for new players being one. On the face of it it's a sure way to populate jet games. Wrong. Short-sighted money grab that causes more long-term decline for war thunder.

The biggest thing that is broken in every aspect of war thunder right now is fun. It has been, and continues to be, drained from the game at an irresponsible rate. The fun has been lost and the players have left with it. A lot of those players took their jets with them.

In my opinion the introduction of T5 premium aircraft is possibly the best thing thy have done for T5/T6 air in a long while.

The thing that is killing the "fun" is the module grind at those tiers.... If thy fix that so we don't need more rp to make an aircraft playable than to just get the aircraft in the first place. Players will start to jump back into top tier in a big way. Even if only because the ability to earn our way into a competitive aircraft state in a reasonable time frame will be restored.  Jut imagine if you only needed 1/3 of the unlock rp to upgrade an aircraft..... Then we are no longer looking at hundreds of fly-outs before having a competitive aircraft.

 

It is my opinion that the push back from the current elitist T5/T6 player base on changes is the biggest thing holding it back. 

I don't even want to think of the crying we will see when all the F-86F's get aim9's in the next patch.  All those new saber pilots we will see grinding sidewinders.... It will be glorious :D

I'm not really sure we can do much about squads in this game. Do I like facing four man squads in the other team? Absolutely not, those games aren't fun for anybody. They're not fun for the opposing team because the outcome of the game is already decided- your team's gonna lose, and even for the same team as them it's not as fun for the same reason, I personally like to feel that I have contributed to the game and it could have gone either way, with a four man squad in my team, the outcome is near enough predetermined (unless there's one in the enemy team too ofc). The worst ones are the groundpounders who end the game in 2 minutes or spawncampers, which I've already gone on about. In fact it's pretty hard to not just leave whenever there's a four man squad in the enemy team, crew lock is preferable to fighting a lost battle and just being free RP/SL.

 

But like I said, I'm not sure there's much we could do. I would love to force them to be skill-matched but that would make queue times too long for them. Maybe just rework the game mode so they can't end a game immediately in their favour, or at least not as easily. Haven't had them in the smaller matches yet but that sounds even less fun.

That would definitely help sick of spawning in only to find the enemy team is filled with VPO and GUUD there is literally no chance for you in that scenario if on squad was placed in each team it would work a hell of a lot better

I encounter the VPO clan every once in awhile but I hardly see them overpowering a match.  I run into the COTAS clan pretty often and they're all good fighters, along with LIGA and IRAN.  What seems to throw a match is some weird stuff with the ping where one side just can't seem to score a hit while the other is chewing them up, and how fighters distribute themselves. High and separated is as much of a danger as all in on a bundle coming in on the airfield.  The coordination I usually see is two guys tag teaming, last time was a pair of G.56's, and more rarely someone giving shadow protection to a bomber.

 

Going back to the OP's post, learning is either by grinding, using the missions/test flights to get familiar with the plane, or just buying all the upgrades for your plane and pilot.  You can't expect a game about shooting each other down to be nice.

There is no problem with squads, just with weak players. if there are 4 VPOs or 4 GUUDs in the team and you have 4 experienced players on your team, there is absolutely no problem. The problem appears if your team consists of morons who after losing one (often the only) plane quit. Then you are in disadvantage as it is unlikely that those squadron players will do the same bcz squadrons select/accept only solid players. This is the real problem that should be handled by Gaijin! Such morons should be banned or heavily penalized not the repeat the behavior.

Yeah it's VPO and Guud right now....it's not their fault but they are not helping.  

 

The main issue is going to be reducing repair costs, protecting the spawn with SAMs, and lowering the price of missiles/ammo.  

 

For now just play RB, it's lower and easier albeit more boring because of it.
