Chieftain Mark 11: A Chieftain with thermals!

Hello, today I wanted to suggest something that's been missing from the Chieftain Mark 10 and is now very relevant since the introduction of night vision devices and in particular, thermal sights.

Currently in War Thunder the United Kingdom has three separate Chieftain main battle tanks: The Chieftain Mark 3, Mark 5, and Mark 10.
Ever since the introduction of update 1.91, tanks have been given thermal imaging, including several Rank VI premium tanks such as the AMX-30 Super which most tech tree vehicles of the same BR (8.7) do not have. Thermal imaging has quickly become an extremely important feature in higher tier battles, and making optics technology that much more important. Thermal vision allows a vehicle to see anything that produces a large amount of heat with ease (this obviously means anything with an engine).

Unfortunately, none of the Chieftains in the game currently are equipped with thermal imaging systems which makes them even more at a disadvantage to certain vehicles that do have thermal imaging.

To remedy this disadvantage however, for the Mark 10 at least, there is a solution in the form of the Mark 11 Chieftain, which is equipped with a Thermal Observation and Gunnery System (TOGS) in place of the original IR Spotlight.

As such, I propose the addition of a modification available to the Chieftain Mark 10 which would convert the vehicle to the Mark 11 and thus giving the gunners sight thermal imaging, much like with the Russian T-80U's T-80UK modification, which changes the appearance of the T-80U and gives it a thermal imaging sight.

The TOGS:
The Barr and Stroud TOGS thermal sight system which was equipped on the Chieftain Mark 11 used the IR26 Thermal Camera in conjunction with the IR18 Thermal Night sight, featuring a wide field of view of 13.6o and a narrow field of view of 4.75o

This conversion would keep the Stillbrew applique composite armor found on the Chieftain Mark 10.

The Chieftain Mark 11 was the last adopted version of the Chieftain for the British Army. It was almost entirely identical to the previous Chieftain Mark 10 (which is present in War Thunder) keeping the same weight, armor, firepower and mobility, with the only major change being to the gunnery system in the form of a Thermal Observation and Gunnery System, replacing the original spotlight on the left hand side of the turret, and a further modified NBC protection system. 324 Chieftains were modified to Mark 11 standard from 1991 to 1995 when the Chieftain was finally retired from service and the Challenger 2 was put into service in its stead.

As this is a modification, it should keep all stats of the Chieftain Mark 10 not affected by the new thermal sight.

Would love it. It's kinda needed too and would fit in nicely with that thermal.

nah, if it gets thermals, then it could easily stay at 9.0, maybe even 9.3, as it would have the ability to stay hull down while being able to identify and safely engage any exposed enemy tank

it would become the ultimate 9.0 sniper

oh yeah, +1

Also need laser ranger fitted to mk3 onward. Get it right first. But mk11 could easily stay at 9.0

The Mk.3 was fitted with additional equipments, dry-air cleaner element, modified No 15 Mk 2 commander cupola, upgraded engine and gave birth to Mk 3/2 (Improved electrical equipment and air cleaners), Mk 3/3 (ER RMG, laser rangefinder, 720bhp engine & modified NBC pack), Mk 3/3P (Iranian version), Mk 3G (Prototype with turret air-breathing for engine aspiration), and the Mk 3S (Mk 3/G with turret air-breathing and commander\’s firing switch).

Personally I’d like to see:

- Chieftain Mk. 1 at 8.0

- Chieftain Mk. 10 dropped to 8.7

- Chieftain Mk. 11 added to 9.0

The Chieftains could also use some backup tanks to form a better lineup, 8.0 and 8.3 are fine but we’ll add some anyway because Gaijin like filler. This could be additions to the Vickers MBT line, such as:

- Vickers MBT Mk. 1 with swingfire missiles as a 8.0 premium tank

- Vijayanta as a 7.7 premium tank

- Vickers MBT Mk. 3 at 8.0

- Vickers MBT Mk. 3(i) at 8.3

- Vijayanta Bison as an 8.3 premium tank

- Vickers MBT Mk. 3(m) at 8.7

- Vickers MBT Mk. 4 (105) at 9.0

- Vickers MBT Mk. 4 (120) at 9.3

- Vickers MBT Mk. 7/2 at 10.0

Adding the Vijayanta’s could be great as they’d be the first Indian tanks in the game. You could maybe even argue at adding the Challenger 2E at the end of the Vickers MBT line (at 10.7 as a backup for the Challenger 2F) as it’s an export model and a Vickers line would essentially be an “export” line.
