  1. 1. Would you like to see the Spahpanzer RU-251 introduced as the T5 German light tank?

What this game desperately needs is more 7.7 tanks that are not soviet.

I'm not talking about any bias, it's numbers. There are 7 Soviet 7.7 tanks, compare that to the other nations.

This is why 6.7 is getting clubbed. If we had more options for the other nations we'd have a much better mm and less waiting times.

Someone gets it. :P

If you can find accurate data then sure

That shouldn't be a problem. The tank still exists.

The tank was built and I would imagine there are stats for the gun somewhere, I think that this might do well, a lack of info is problematic though. However I personally would prefer having the M47/M48 Patton and the T54/T55 as they were actually used by west and east Germany respectivly after WW2, all of which to some degree are implemented currently in the game. And would work in the same manor that the CL-13 Sabre and the Mig-15bis do.

World of T--- Ahem, that other game might have done something right for once. They apparently got specifications on the real RU-251 from some source (supposedly Bundeswehr sources themselves. This is unconfirmed but it would solve a LOT of problems if true!), hence the stats it has in the other game:

Basic Data

Empty weight: 24 tons
Combat weight: 25,5 tons
Engine type: MB 837 Aa. (same engine as the Jagdpanzer 4-5, V8 multifuel)
Engine output: 500 horsepower
Power-to-weight: 19,6 hp/t
Maximum speed: 80 km/h

Armor

Hull - 30mm front / 20mm side / 8mm rear

Turret - 30mm mantlet / 20mm side/rear

Gun

90mm Bordkanone (firing APCR/HEATFS/HESH). SAME GUN AS JPZ 4-5

History

The Spähpanzer Kette was designed to replace the Germany Army’s old American M41 light tanks in the reconnaissance role. Its development began in 1960 and a prototype was completed in 1963. It mounted a Rheinmetall turret armed with the 90mm Bordkanone as used in the Jagdpanzer 4-5. By the middle of the 1960s the Leopard tank was in production and it was decided that reconnaissance units did not need their own specialist vehicles. The development of the Spähpanzer Kette was dropped without any further vehicles being built and its role was given over to the Leopard. With hindsight, this may have been a hasty move as the wheeled Spähpanzer Luchs was eventually developed to take back this role from the Leopard.

Well, it would be the first time Gaijin has "used the same source" as Wargaming.  And why not?  If the data comes from a solid source, no reason not to use it.

I believe I might have some information on the Ru 251 in a book about tanks from 1945-2001-ish. I'll check the book tomorrow (Sunday) ,once I come back home and post any results I might find on the Ru 251 here. Until then,

Moved to Further discussion.

EDIT: Sorry to disappoint you gents,it appears the book didn't contain any info about the Ru 251 :(

Results!  I pick my threads carefully, that being said, it doesn't need much convincing for most people to be on board with this one.

Wooo! With the gun and its armor, I'd say we could effectively put this at 6.7 or 7.0BR at tier 5. It's like an M41 armor wise but an M47 gun wise.

No offense but I'd rather not see more prototypes in the game, there are enough of them already.

In principle I agree with you, but unless you put in export clones there is a bit of an issue with the German tree.

We desperately need more non-soviet 7.7's to fill out the mm at that br and ease the 6.7 clubbing so if prototypes is the only solution, we need to work with it.

A good game is better than a historical one.

Too bad War Thunder is neither of those.

Yes, and we're actively trying to fix that.  Don't get in the way.
