Argentine Ground Tech Tree

For the last of the Argentine Tech Trees, the ground forces, after the addition of the TAM and now the TAM2C i suggest Argentina to be represented in WT, you might be asking ¿why?, this is a small nation compared to others we see suggested, aside from that, we see a good amount of unique vehicles, modifications and some copies here and there. I think this tree could be a really nice addition for the game and with it other things could come, like maps or even other Latin American nations.

The Tree Itself:

Tier By Tier Analysis:

Tier I

Spoiler

When it comes to the First Tier, we start with a weird selection of Vehicles, for one side we have the T-16s carriers (or Universal/Bren carriers if you're British) witch were modified by the argentine army to accommodate more powerful armament, we also have various M3 halftracks with a 75mm Krupp cannon and 20mm cannons, a Chevrolet truck with a 1938 Oerlikon AA gun and lastly one of the modified crusader tractors witch also accommodates the 75mm krupp gun.

T-16s

Spoiler

The t-16s in rank one dived themselves in 3 variants for rank I, the 2 first ones armed with heavy and light machine guns, although the second one armed with 2 PAPI rocket launchers (Panzerfaust copy), a latter one incorporated a 20mm cannon.

 unnamed-2.jpg unnamed-3.jpg

Both reserve examples are armed with 12.7 Machine guns (or 50 cals) + a Browning 1919 in the front, the second example carries 2 PAPI rockets mounted facing forward (an argentine version of the Panzerfaust). Its important to know that there are not pics of the 20mm one, although its been mentioned in a lot of sources (much like the Matorras-Carrier, another field gun that was mounted on it)

Recoilless Guns Difference (1968 vs 1974):

Spoiler

According to a lot of the information i found, the recoilless guns have 2 versions, 1968 and 1974, both look exactly the same and have no difference at least at first looks but the heat rounds of the 1974 version can pen double of what the 1968 can (Heat 1968: 200mm Heat 1974: 400mm), lots of the vehicles we see in the TT could have carried both series, in that case that would be an exuse to re add the T-16, M-3/9 or unimog at higher tiers. The M5 and M9 were re-added with the later gun.

Uniqueness ? (Copied or not?)

Spoiler

The tree in is current form has a total of 74 vehicles, 20 of them being premiums, and Im happy to say that the majority of the vehicles are unique to this tree, and the copies are:

(Researchable)

  • M4A4
  • M4A2
  • Firefly VC/IC (hybrid)
  • M41
  • AML-90 (updated)
  • M60

Premiums (Copies)

  • M3A1
  • M24
  • Firefly IC
  • AML-90

With a total of 68 vehicles, the tree has a little percentage of copies (a 16% to be exact, with more further additions this will be less)

Criteria (Ground forces):

Spoiler

When it comes to argentine tanks, or ground forces in general, i restrict myself to vehicles to this:

  • Vehicles used and adopted by the argentine army (Examples: TAM, SK-105, etc)
  • Vehicles used by the neighboring nations of Uruguay/Paraguay (Premiums, Examples: Ti-67, M3 Stuart, etc)
  • Vehicles modified/Upgraded in argentina (Examples: Sherman Repotenciado, Up-gunned M5/M9 Halftracks, etc)
  • Prototypes Finished/Partially finished in argentina (Examples: Mowag 90mm and Mowag AA, TAM VCDA)

Note that most of the vehicles if not all of them with 2 or 3 exceptions were completed and saw some sort of use/testing. I think accepting this 2/3 "compromises" is acceptable for us to have a more complete tree.

Future Additions and other things:

Spoiler

i have quite a few vehicles that are awaiting to be added, but i wanted you to see them first, so we can discuss their feasibility for the game. Some of this are:

All the rocket vehicles

Unimog with double system (Pampero+CP30)

Crusader Rocket launcher (2 vehicles

image0.png.jpeg

IMARA Modified Dodge truck with 6 Bantam missiles (i have doubts about this)

f256d5edc4b190efe595974fa5abb2d9-2.jpg

This are some of the vehicles i have that im researching for them to be added into the tree. most of them could fall into the premiums or be splitted in 2 (one researchable and one premium)

Ive seen some people that wants to see Argentine tanks in a sub line with the German tree, would you be confortable with this? what are your opinions if germany would receive such a thing?

Tree is a bit small but nice. Perhaps premiums could be some of the vehicles operated by specific units?

Sure, we could have some with their historical camos. It is nice since we dont have a huge number of copies for filling, but sadly we have big gaps in some BRs, anyway i hope they like Recoilless Rifles ;)

I would prefer a South American / Spanish speaking International tree. But anyway +1 :)

Thanks, if any of the TTs (Ground/Naval/Air/helicopters) were incomplete or unavailable, i would consider more the mixed latin American idea, but thats not the case, the 4 TTs are present showing that a nation like this has passes (at least) the minimum requirements for it to be added (a complete naval tree, a mostly complete air tree, consistent ground tree, an ok helicopter tree, the big presence of indigenous vehicles and a little copied ones, finally the possibility of offering new maps (don't forget Fuego Islands), operations for EC and much more). I think this nation has some great potential if added to the game, it could be the first Latin American nation in game.

As a fellow argentinian i don´t see a way to fill out the tech tree and still be somewhat competitive with other nations.

We ussually are acustomed to 4 line TTs, in this case, since we lack heavy tanks and some medium ones, we have 3. This tree can be a strong competitor in a big number of BRs  3.0/3.7/4.7/6.7/7.3/7.7, since the best BRs vehicle line ups are present there. sadly top tier is the one that will be the least enjoyable

I actually support this idea. +1

(And not so I can blow them up for the Empire, Muhaha xD)

Genuinely i'd actually like to see smaller tech trees in the game. It gives more people a sense of indaviduallity having their nations represented, and it doesnt mean grinding through a absurdly large tree again and again and again.

Would I play an Argentina tree? Likely not (For lack of time as it is)

But it would be a tree i'd gind out if I ever decided to start another tree being smaller.

But I dont see any reason why it shouldn't be added or represented.

Be a great reason to add the Falklands as a map too xD

(Plz dont get political)

+1 This could be a smaller tech tree. I think there is also a possibility of creating a larger South American tech tree based on a south American organization.

Agreed. Then we could have a Spanish Civil War scenario too, and a place to put the vehicles from then also. I think Spain + the Latin world is enough to make a tree.

Great work, +1! I never thought Argentina could get it to the independent tech tree, and I like it so much that I made this tree on my own site. I hope you like it :salute:

Nice post, do you have the 75mm Krupp AP values or at least information?

I would like to recommend a version of the M3 with x6 105 recoiless rifle (haha funny, not for the enemy) http://www.militariarg.com/tractortruck-prime-mover-vehicles-wheeled-artillery.html

Picture

and the Type "A3" RSW truck w/Oerlikon 20mm L70 M1938 DCA (It can be Type A3 truck Oerlikon 20mm or something like that). the only info I found http://www.militariarg.com/air-defense-artillery.html

Sure, ill eventually add the M3 and change the name of the AA truck. As for the 75mm Krupp gun, i do have the values somewhere, but they are not that impressive (like 70ish mm at maximum). Thanks for the suggestion

Hello, some comments:

Nahuel:

The turret gun was a Madsen too, a 11.35mm antiaircraft gun.

TH-301/TAM Prototype:

Identification and Picture are Wrong. Your picture is not an Argentine TAM Prototype, but the German export version TH-301-105.

The TAM Prototype number 1 is named TAM-A (or TAM-1) in Argentina and TH-300 in Germany.

_ This is an argentine TAM-A prototype:

P08kmho.jpg

_ This is a german TH-300 prototype:

shrr902.jpg

The TAM Prototype number 3 is named TAM-4 in Argentina and TH-301 in Germany.

_ This is an argentine TAM-4 prototype-preserie:

ivXh0cL.jpg

_ This is the german TH-301-105 prototype:

XF0r0aR.jpg

_ This is a german TH-301-105 prototype too:

vVBg2H3.jpg

And this is the Brazilian "TAM" offered as the german export version in the late 70s.

6FMF90u.png

Then TAM-4 was the pre-series for argentine TAM. And TH-301 was the export version by germany, that got an evolution in its equipment and a 120mm prototype too.

Wich one is BetterTH-300 (1976) < TAM-A (1977) < TH-301 (1978) = TAM-4 (1978-9) = TAM (1980) < TH-301-105 (1980s-90s) < TH-301-120 (1978). Maybe.

Yes the "german TAM" in game should be "TH-300" or "TH-301 (1970s)".

Hope it helps. Continue the good work.

Iván

That doesn't look like an M20 RR. It's way too bulky and lacks the nozzle at the breech.

It also doesn't look like the usual cannon of an M3 GMC. No idea of what else it could be.
