Argentine Air Forces Tree

Continuing with the Argentine tech trees, its time we suggest the aircraft, Starting in the early 1910s argentina wanted to get their hands into the military aircraft ideas, using foreign designs as a start the army aviation branch was born, years passed until the aviation branch was formed as a sole Air force, this force will evolve trough the years to be one of the Biggest of latin America.

This nation will be an amazing addition for all war thunder players, since there is a great number of unique aircraft and modifications, armament and more. from the unique low tier props to the high tier jets, this tree is mostly complete, but there are some problems when it comes to Br and Ranks.

Q&A

1. Why Argentina ?

This nation has by far a huge ammount of aircraft,it offers more local desings than any other latin american nation, and if we find copies of other aircraft we ussually see them with modifications that are not in game.

2. Why not a latin american TT?

This is a hard choice for Gaijin, since mixed trees will tend to be a lot harder to balance and in this case, it really wont reduce the amount of copied vehicles since most of the other nations used American/Russian/British equipment and they didn't produce much of their own. Im not against a mixed tree, but i think you wouldn't like that gaijin adds a tree where there are mirages, sabres, b-17s, lancasters, p-51s, p-47s, P-80s, Mig-21s, Su-17s, DeHavilland Vampires, Hawker Hunters and more.

3. What this TT offers compared to The other we can see in the forums?

The tree has a good variety of differnt and unique options for players, Naval aircraft, hydroplanes, turbo-props, Mach 2 jet fighters/atakkers, light & heavy bombers, guided bombs, missiles, and more. This doesnt mean it offers more or less than the others in the forums, but the unique aircraft+modifications make it a really good choice.

4. How many aircraft are in this Tree?

The tree currently has 123 aircraft in total, 35 being premiums/event and the remaining 88 are regular researchable aircraft. All of the aircraft flew under their own power meaning we have no paper desings here.

5. How many copies We have in this TT?

From the 88 regular aircraft we have 17 of them being copies, but a good number of them recieve modification that the ones in game dont have, camberra recieving matra SNEBs, A-4 Recieving 30mm as a modification + Shafrir missiles, the avro lancaster recieving guided bombs, etc.

6. Why there are Uruguayan aircraft suggested?

The relationship between Uruguay and Argentina was always very close, and it terms of their military forces, there was always cooperation, sharing of equipment and conjoint training and exercises. We could also see Paraguayan or Bolivian aircraft being added as premiums.

A Deep analisys, Copied or not?

Spoiler

Just by looking at the tree (researchable only) we can spot some stuff we can describe As copied and pasted vehicles, sure, lets do a very in depth look. (Copied planes= exact same planes that are already in another nation TT)

Rank I = 2 Copied planes of 22 (hawk III, B10B)

Rank II = 2 Copied planes out of 10 (PBM-5 & Sm.79B)

Rank III = 1 Copied Vehicle out of 14 (G.55A), the Spitfire Mk.Viii is not in game

Rank IV = 2 Copied Vehicles out of 11 (Lancaster B Mk.1 (receives anti ship guided bomb) and Lincoln B Mk.2) There is no F4U-5 in game

Rank V =  5 Copied Vehicles out of 11 (Meteor Mk.III & IV, F9F-2B, Canberra Mk.2 ),

Rank VI = 5 Copied vehicles out of 12 (all A-4 Skyhawks, the B and C recieve the Halcon upgrade as a modification to replace the colt 20mm for 30mm DEFAs), the cougar is a different version to the one in the American tree (it cant carry missiles and it doesn't have the same cannons)

Rank VII = Copied aircraft out of 8 (Argentine modified Mirages and Mirage Vs are not taken into account, as they are not in the game)

As we can see the total number of Copied vehicles is 20 out of 88 regular planes. I know that the remaining Us/or other nation aircraft aircraft like the F4U-5, the F9F-8T or the MB326/339 could come to the game, the tree will still having a unique majority

Criteria (Air forces):

Spoiler

When it comes to Aircraft, things become a bit more conditioned and complicated, Why? lets start:

  • Aircraft used and adopted by the Argentine Air Force (Examples: A-4, Mirage, Pucara, etc)
  • Aircraft used by the neighboring nations of Uruguay/Paraguay (Premiums, Examples: F6F, T-33, etc)
  • Aircraft received by argentina as donations by foreign nations (Examples: Spitfire, Hurricane, etc)
  • Prototypes Finished/Partially finished (Must flew) (Examples: Pulqui Series, Pucara Charlie, Ñancu, etc)
  • Aircraft bought by Argentina but never arrived to the country: This is a tricky one, 2/3 examples can be found, Meteors Mk.IIIs bought and flew under argentine Serials, never left Britain, Israeli A-4Hs bought by the Argentine Navy, prepared and painted in Argentine colors, equipment arrived to argentina but the aircraft didn't, Same scenario with Later versions of British Canberras. (all examples wore argentine livery)
  • Experimental (and non experimental) Armament used and tested by aircraft (Examples: PAT-1 bomb, AAMs, etc)
  • Aircraft used by the Argentine-British squadron in WW2 + Aircraft used by argentine volunteers in the RAF (Premiums only, Examples: Spitfire, Hurricane, B-24, etc)

There's some aircraft that seems to be missing

IA-63 "Pampa": It's an indigenous subsonic jet attack & trainer aircraft from the 1980's (comparable to the Franco-German Alpha Jet) that is equipped with a DEFA cannon gunpod mounted in the central hardpoint as well as some additional gunpods on the inner wing hardpoints. It has a total of five hardpoints (4 on the wings and one central) that can equip unguided rockets and bombs

Spoiler

3710b11450ce7cf60cec2d6fe1d3349co.jpg.97

Morane-Saulnier MS.760 Paris: This is a trainer aircraft of French origin which, it is equipped with 2 mg's in the nose as well as some small bombs and rockets on the wings, Some MS.760's were built in Argentina by FMA under license and it saw combat in the 1963 Argentine navy revolt

Spoiler

There is also some missing prototype aircraft (I.Ae 27 "Pulqui I, I.Ae 30 Nancu, IA-58 prototype variants [AX-02 "Delfin", AX-04, IA-66], I.Ae 28 "Super Calquin" [ though this specific vehicle only had a mockup built]) but i'm going to guess you are reserving those aircraft for the premium line

I had those planes in mind when making the tree, and the reason to add them is that they will be quite hard to fit, the Morane Sauliner it’s only armed with 2 7.62s and flight performance is what you expect out of a training aircraft, maybe for an event but wasn’t top priority. An as for the pampa we could say the same, it could go after the pucara but is something that it will be hard to balance. As for the pulque it never had guns mounted on it  the ñancu suffers the same ( some sources stated that it didn't have armament mounted on it)

Well, there's more indigenous designs here than on the Chinese tree, so that's a start.  Wonder what'll be done for ground and naval forces though...

inb4 Falklands map.

EDIT: On the G.59, the one G.59-2A Argentina had received for evaluation would've been a single-seat fighter likely armed with four 20 mm Hispanos (probably short-barreled British Mk.Vs from what I could see from photos), as that was the standard armament for that particular variant.  Since they only had one, it's a decent premium aircraft candidate.

I’ve been thinking and studying (terrain, elevations or just how it will be for tanks, air and sea battles) if a map of the island could be done, as for air and naval yes, since it for the air could be presented like the Norway map, one team from the island and the other from aircraft carriers, naval (for boats it will look like fuego islands) could also be inspired in the ww1 battle between Germany and the Uk or the battle of river Plate (not the islands but north), sadly for ground it’s not a very useful or good map, imagine Maginot line with less slopes no trees and occasionally a few rocks for cover

If the G-59 was armed it could help filling the space in Rank IV that one of the Corsairs have (and have all Corsair together) information on both Argentine G55s and the G59 is pretty scarce But I would like to see it

I wouldn't mind seeing this tech tree added, but only as part of an international tech tree or a "Latin America" tech tree. So +1 (under conditions).

I've been seeing what the other latin american countries could add to a mixed air TT, the overall result is just not worth it, Brazilian P-47s & B-17s, Chilean Hunters, Salvador P-51s, Honduras F-86s, Venezuelan F-86Ks and more. i dont want another TT like china, in this case argentina can deliver at least more unique designs and an overall better amount of planes for some line ups (1.0+ reserve, 1.3, 2.3, 4.7, 5.7 and almost all top tier , thats more than the Swedish TT we have today), the tree has more unique fighters than china and most of the copied planes receive great modifications (sabre`s Shafir missiles, lancaster guided bomb, canberra snebs, meteor with bombs, etc). its completely worth it to have one of the most complete latin american nations in game, excusing the lack of fighters in some BRs (like sweden)

Well, it depends on which Latin American you are referring to and what vehicles, for example Peru operated a couple obscure US (NA-50 [P-64]) and Italian (Ca.114) fighters that can be added in Tier II & I, Brazil operates the EMB 312 & 314 "Tucanoes" as well as the Italo-Brazilian AMX (A-1M), and like Peru, Brazil used some obscure US aircraft (this time it's the Boeing P-12/F4B & Curtiss Falcon). Also the vast majority of Latin American countries operates the AT-33A, a Attacker/COIN variant of the T-33 Shooting star (The US never operated this variant).

However you are still right about being copy n paste if you add more Latin American countries into the TT though the biggest problem i found is actually Latin American countries use a lot of the same vehicles as each other or use similar variants of the same base vehicle. For example both Argentina and Peru used O2U Corsairs (V-80) and both used F11C Goshawks, Argentina and Brazil uses the AT-26 Xavante (MB-326), a lot of Latin American countries used at least one variant of the P/F-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, F-5 Freedom Fighter/Tiger and/or the Mirage family of Jet Fighters/Attackers which includes the Israeli (IAI Nesher/Dagger & Kifir) and South African (Atlas Cheetah) aircraft that are based on the Mirage family.

My main deal with the other latin american nations, is that they made almost none unique aircraft, sure Brazil has the tucanoes (argentina too) a maybe the AMX and some early fighters for tier I and II, thats it, no other aircraft. If a Tech tree of this other nations is made, it would be like china, since all the nations mentioned used american/British/french aircraft (p40s,p51s, mirages, Lancasters, B-17s, B25s), the only one that produced their own aircraft in a considerable number is Argentina, and if they had foreign aircraft they made their own modifications and had their own developed armament. as it today argentina in this TT has 10 unique to them planes, and there are more that could be added. (think about it, argentina could have around 15/16 (im gathering info about some)unique aircraft, perú chile and brazil combined have less than that)

EDIT:

In my opinion the only way for the other nations to be added is to have complete complementary trees, like argentina has a great naval tree, an ok air tree and a poor ground(ground is in the works), in the case of brazil it would be a poor air tree, a good ground tree and an ok naval.

That...actually isn't a bad idea, having Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Chile all part of the same tree to reduce the amount of copy+paste.

Another hypothetical (alternate history) scenario that could work for an air battle would be simulating if Captain Langsdorff had opted to try and make a break for Buenos Aires (due to damage to the fuel system, galley, desalination plant, and bow, returning to Germany is all but impossible) under the cover of night.  Upon realizing what the Germans are up to, the Royal Navy diverts the battlecruiser HMS Renown and carrier HMS Ark Royal to the south Atlantic to try and head off the Panzerschiff.  However, a secret agreement had been made in the meantime between the German and Argentinian governments to sell them the vessel in exchange for the safe return of the crew (instead of interning them with the ship).  By the time the Royal Navy had caught up to the Graf Spee the following day (and also scrambled bombers based in the Falklands Islands...which may or may not have been there irl, but it would explain the presence of non-carrierborne aircraft), the ship (along with its escort) is a mere hour from safety.  As the Graf Spee has by now managed to reach Argentinian territorial waters, the Argentine government then mobilizes any available air and naval assets in the area to ensure that what will soon be their brand new Panzerschiff makes it to its destination.

That...actually isn't a bad idea, having Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Chile all part of the same tree to reduce the amount of copy+paste

Those countries will reduce it, if they had a big number of unique vehicles, something that they lack (with the exception of some ground forces for brazil and  4 or 5 planes)

Thats actually a great idea, i was thinking about something more in the Misiones Jungle for helicopters EC, air+Naval EC in the south Atlantic sea or ground or boat battles in the patagonia (we do have Fuego islands witch is based on an argentine province)

I could also see the Pampas being used as a basis for a ground forces map.  It's ideal tank country not unlike that seen in central and eastern Europe.  Looking at photos of it from some angles, you'd be forgiven from thinking it was the Fulda Gap.  That does beg the question of WHY one's fighting in the Pampas, which isn't an issue for ABs but for RBs...Cold War shenanigans?

As for my Alt History idea, I would suppose that the UK would have access to a respawn point like one sees in World War Mode to allow bombers to safely bail out, rearm, and repair (along with the carrier if they can't make it).  The Argentinians would have a land airfield.  Since the Brits wouldn't have area targets to bomb before taking out their carrier, I would suppose that the Argentinians wouldn't have any either, and either both the airfield and carrier have hugely inflated HP pools or simply don't take any damage (similar to the airfields on Operation Uranus, the winter Stalingrad Air RB map).  The primary objectives would be as follows:

Argentina/Axis:

-Protect the Graf Spee until it reaches safety

-Sink HMS Renown

-Destroy enemy escort ships and bombers flying in from the Falklands Islands

-Establish Air Supremacy

UK/Allies:

-Sink the Graf Spee and its escorting destroyers

-Protect HMS Renown from enemy aircraft

-Destroy Argentinian shore-based defenses (likely shore batteries and perhaps an auxiliary airfield or two)

-Establish Air Supremacy

The Pampas as a new maps really sounds great, event that those places never saw a battle (at least a modern one), the idea of having a good map for ground AB and RB really excuses the lack of any historical justification.

For the battle of River Plate (alt history) it should play as a regular naval EC or restricted to the aircraft that were in service at that time  for both nations ?

i also would like to include a air EC over the Andes mountains, wich would be an interesting idea for high tier jets (even though it will be alt history)

If this tree was added to War Thunder or any Latin related nation, I probably wouldn't even touch it at all. Like how I didn't even touch China and Sweden. If another tree was added, I'd expect a European tree to be added (Romania, Poland, Hungary, etc).

A bit offtopic but, personally in my opinion, all these top tier supersonic jets with missiles, helicopters, top tier tanks, etc in the game ruined the game for me. The highest br plane should be 8.0 with the Korean war jets. Also, China and Sweden, I wish they weren't in the game. And that's what I fear, last thing I want in the game is a Middle Eastern tree because by the looks of it, Gaijin seems to focus more on modern s***.

Well, the addition of a new TT like this could be a breath of fresh air for WT, since this one (much like sweden) has quite some unique aircraft and a good number of indigenous modifications. Sure, you can expect Romania, Hungary, or poland but as you might guess (and some of this nations TTs are suggested in the forums) they have a huge amount of copied vehicles, Bf-110s/109s/190s and dont forget the soviet stuff, it wont be another china (since they did had some indigenous desings) but we will see a lot of copied vehicles. As for the modern stuff? the only supersonic planes that can carry missiles are the Mirages, before Rank VI its all 1950s/60s/(early70s (The MBs)) i dont see any problems there.

Update:

The TT was re arranged, the A-4 Skyhawks (B,C and Q) were moved to the Proper BR (8.7) and the F-86 to Rank VI

The "possible addition" tag, this mean that the aircraft that have this tag have the possibility of being added to the TT

Added 2 planes to "possible additions", The A-4AR and the Turbo Mentor

I looked into the I.Ae 30 some more and i found out that it's armament is 6 Hispano Mk V's (idk the exact rpg) under the nose, as well as 1 250kg bomb under the fuselage and 10 83mm rockets on the wings.

Link to the I.Ae 30's data sheet forum below:

Also i suggest you add the P2V-5 (Argentina operated 8 P2V-5's) either as the last P-2 to research in the folder or as a Tier IV vehicle separate from the other SP-2's because that particular variant is equipped with 2 forward facing 20mm as well as a twin 20mm tail turret and a twin 50.cal dorsal turret.

sadly the armament wasn't mounted to the aircraft, so its a no for me

There's vehicles that were never equipped with it's proposed armament (or even the correct armament in some cases) and yet they are ingame, like the MB.157, the Sea Meteor Mk.3, the SO.8000 Narval, the Ho.229, The E-100, the hidden Flakpanzer 341, the J9N "Kikka".

The main reason why i'm saying this is because A: Argentina doesn't have a lot of native designs around Tier III & IV, B: It would add variety to the TT & C: It could make for a interesting premium or event vehicle

Another thing is Argentina operated two attacker variants of the T-28, the T-28S "Fennec" and the T-28P, the main difference between the two is the T-28P has shorter propeller blades and a tail hook while these are absent on the T-28S and the G.59-A2 (the variant Argentina tested) is equipped with 4 Hispano Mk.V cannons mounted on the wings

Update

We see the addition of New aircraft to the tree, The T-34A mentor, T-34C Turbo mentor and the Ia.63 Pampa for the Regular Tech Tree. As for the Premiums we see the addition of The C130 T-68 bomber.

In that case i guess we could add the ñancu, only if people+gaijin are ok with it

The addition of it will help in tier IV (same with the G59)

ill keep an eye in the T-28s so i can add them

Thanks !

Every new suggestion for a new nation is always welcomed and is worth consideration.

Few notes about G55A and G59:

G55A never had engine cannon, although installation was obviously possible.

MG151 were only imported from Germany so after the war these weapons were not available in Italy.

G55A delivered to Egypt and Syria were armed with 4*12.7mm Breda MGs. I assume these would have been the possible armament for planes delivered to Argentina.

G59 with 4 weapons in wings were all Bredas, they were used in Syria.

I heard there is a mock-up photo of a G59 with 4 cannons, but they were not real cannons (they were meant to be Hispano, but were never installed).
